Re: FTV901R Transverter mod for FT980
hi Fred, Thank you so much for your kindness. I am in the electronics business and I can print my own PCBs if required, and I can work from a schematic. So no problems handling whatever you can throw

Re: FTV901R Transverter mod for FT980
Alan, I have a modified FTV-901R as well as the cable and mod instruction sheet. The ALC Board in the transverter is replaced by one which takes a different drive level and there are changes

FTV901R Transverter mod for FT980
hi guys, I have bought this transverter to use with my FT980 and I have seen mention in this group that there is a mod that can be done to it to make it work with the FT980 but my enquiries qith

Re: Frequency Error
I forgot: the base for the FLLs in the FT-980 is actually 10Hz, not 1Hz. So ... and 80Hz error would be 2^3 (= 8) * 10Hz. Could be a coincidence ... but maybe check out the drive and diode on the 3rd

Re: Frequency Error
Thank you. I guess I’ll have to put on my engineering hat and dig deeper.

Re: Frequency Error
The FT-980 clock structure is very elegant (w/ error canceling technique s and such not) ... but also complicated. Fortunately you've identified some clues: 1. Happens in SSB (USB & LSB) but not

Frequency Error
I am curious if there is an adjustment to correct the issue described below. In CW or AM, according to my frequency counter, my carrier is the same frequency as the frequency display. However, in

Re: Replacement trimmer for TC4001 (PLL/VCO Unit)
Note: My 30MHz reference had drifted so much over the years (courtesy of the attached heater I'm sure) that I couldn't pull it into range with the existing trimmer. I ended up changing the trimmer and

Re: Replacement trimmer for TC4001 (PLL/VCO Unit)
This gets better. I pulled the rig out of line, put it on my bench (in a cooler environment) and the next day I had a go at adjusting the 30MHz reference and VCO trimmers. Exactly, perfectly on

Re: Replacement trimmer for TC4001 (PLL/VCO Unit)
Mat, ? I replaced the trimmer with a nice ceramic one that Paul W6XA found in my first 980.? Problems with the trimmer and the vcv is well documented in the 1983 and 1984 Fox Tango newsletter.? I

I purchased an assortment of NOS Russian trimmer caps at Dayton.? A good quality ceramic trimmer *should* be NP0 :) I was lucky, and I found one that dropped in any worked perfectly. The range was

Replacement trimmer for TC4001 (PLL/VCO Unit)
Anyone know where to source these parts in both the correct capacitance range and temperature coefficient? Over Christmas break I repaired several PLL/VCO Units whose OEM trimmers had become

Re: FRB-1 relay problems
Have you tried multiple FRB-1s and determined if the problem persists across them? I think I have 4 or 5 of the things around here, in addition to a couple of control cables for Dunestar bandpass
