I?I tried to use an aftermarket speaker/mic.? This made the unit begin to power up and down repeatedly, about two cycles per second.? I tried the reset procedure described ?in the manual.? This has no effect.? The speaker/mic does have a 4-conductor plug.? Any ideas would be most appreciated. ??

I went through the same issue. In my situation I could not fully seat the connector in the socket. I trimmed away a bit? of the connector plastic on the speaker mike and it then? fully seated but any little thing would cause it to pop out. Only solution I know of is to buy OEM? S-M from Yaesu.
