How does SBH-13 terminates the charging cycle?

I understand it supposed to be an "intelligent" charger and not a fixed current fixed time charger however I am not clear if it uses thermal sensing, dV/dt (negative voltage delta detection) or perhaps a combination of these. The user manual is not specific about it. Does anyone know?

Are you experiencing any problems with the charger and Yaesu battery packs?

The battery is kind of on the hot side (comparing to other NiMh chargers and battery packs) when the charging cycle finishes however I would not call that an issue or a problem. But still, it made me curious about how that thing supposes to work.
