Noisy Volume Pot
开云体育I’m starting to get some cracking when adjusting volume. I have some cleaners here, including the version of DeOxIT intended for pots and faders. ? Where do I apply a tiny bit? Do I need to open the radio to get at the actual pot? ? Thanks ? Chris ? |
Hi Chris,
spraying DeOxIT from the outsite onto the shaft of the pot will not help. Access to the housing of the pot, where the carbon layer is, would only be possible from the inside. The pots used in these radios have very tightly closed housings, unlike the classical pots, where could often find a gap where the contacts are located. Simly spraying on the housing may get some liquid creeping into the inside, but whether it reaches the carbon track would be very questionable, but maybe worth a try. Often, just simply exercising the pot al lot of times will mitigate the problem. A oxidation layer on the wiper might get removed with this. If the carbon track is severly damaged, best is to replace the pot. 73, Chis |
