Flashing "Save"

I was inputting a PL tone and now the radio flashes "Save" and I don't know what to do. Obviously I'm new to this.

Thanks, Christian KD2LIN

That's the battery saver icon to show that it's active.

It's the receive battery saver option. Set mode item #41. Do you have an operating manual? It's covered under miscellaneous settings on page #59. I can email a manual if you need one.
I have the same radio too.

Welcome aboard!

Here is a fragment from a "cheat sheet" that might help (I think the "pg 28" reference is to the radio's manual, but a newer or older version of the manual might have that on a different page). Credit? J.Christensen KI6IHX 7/1/2007 for this:
================================================================================================
Store a Frequency in a Memory Channel (pg 28) P = momentary press
Action Button Notes H = hold for 1 sec
P V/M As necessary to get into VFO mode R = rotate
R/DKE DIAL Select Freq to be stored DKE = direct keyboard entry
H F/W
R DIAL Select Channel Number to be stored in w/I 10 sec
P F/W Stores Freq in selected memory channel

================================================================================================

I hope this helps get you on track with it.

Thanks, Bill. What do you set it at?

??? What actually happened was a "double fault". the radio froze, and what I could see, was the flashing "Save" so was focused on that. Finally discovered the lock icon on the screen and unlocked, so now operable. However, the Save was making me think there was still something wrong.

??? Thanks again, Christian KD2LIN

Jerry, thanks very much, that is nice. However I found the formatting pretty confusing, so I have reformatted it and attached. For instance, going down a list of actions, I look for the button I need to operate, not the action I will perform on it.

??? Great to be able to team up on this, I really like the radio, and feel blessed that there are people to turn to for help and advice.

??? ??? Best, Christian KD2LIN

So if the flashing save icon annoys you just set it to "off". You can always perform a reset of preferences or memories back to factory settings if you need to also. Don't be afraid to push buttons. That's how you learn. Every ham radio friend of mine says that it's a GREAT radio and the easiest to setup and program. Go thru the user manual. Use the settings and practice changing everything. Then practice putting in different frequencies and squelch, tones etc. That's the only way to get familiar so that you won't have to depend on the book when you just need to adjust something.
Oh and get on the air and talk! Just use it!

The FT-60 is by far the easiest radio I have found to program manually. The functions you need to program can be done by using ‘F’(function) key and keys 1-4.?

I suggest writing yourself a ‘cheat sheet’ in such a way that YOU can understand, or using one of the examples found in the Files section. Also, Nifty Accessories has a wide variety of cheat sheets available for a k of a large number of radios. Www.niftysccessories.com.?

Message sent from some electronic device that only the Manufacturer of said device really cares about.?
