FBA-25A battery holder question

I picked up the AA battery case at Dayton.. I put 6 Duracell AA batteries in it and can't really get the battery clip to latch. Is there that much variation in AA battery dimensions that some work and some don't? I spoke with a tech at Batteries America and he told me that some guys have improved the fit by using a sharp pair of cutters and trimming a turn off the positive spring contacts. Has anyone done this? I attempted it with a couple pairs of small diagonal cutters but couldn't seem to get in close enough. Thanks.

Insert the batteries negative-side first, and make sure that when you press against the positive end, that they get fully inserted.

Thanks for the reply. I tried installing some Energizer 2300 mAH AA batteries. I believe they were fully inserted. The battery holder still would not seat properly on the radio. Maybe I'll try a different t brand of AA Alkalines.?

Hmmm ... I know it's sometimes a tight squeeze ... and you know there's a thin rubber gasket along the?
outside edge of the case ...?

Please let us know your results. I have used alkalines from Amazon and Duracell, and NiMH from Maha /?
Powerwerx with success.

I've found the Energizer 2300mAh NiMH to be a little tough to fit in some other unforgiving AA battery compartments. ?The unfortunately _incredibly_ tight battery pack fit on this HT would make anything even a hair too big a difficult or impossible fit. ?Alkalines should work, though.

Based on this conversation, I'm going to try the?Yaesu FBA-25A battery holder.? I don't use the radio much and this seems like a good choice, especially if my fingers are strong enough to get the holder locked in.? If my radio usage increases, I'll get another?Yaesu FNB-83 battery pack.
