Transmit error

Hello:
When I hit the transmit button on my FT 60R, it shows "ERROR". It receives ok
and the battery voltage shows 8.1 volts ?? It sat unused for about 3 months and
I charged it up before using it but ERROR shows up now?
Any suggestions? Maybe a new battery is? needed?
Thanks for you help!
Bob, NF7E

What frequency? Have you tried a test on 146.520 MHz 446.000 MHz?

Are you trying to transmit on a frequency outside the ham bands? ?The radio has a lot of frequencies it can receive, but can only transmit in ham bands.?

If it's battery the radio usually just shut off. Check that off the list..

If you think it might have something to do with the battery that is attached. ?Remove the battery. ?If you have a AA battery pack, load it with fresh cells and see. ?If you have a cigarette lighter, or USB style charging cord you could go that route. ?You can also use any wall wort that provides DC per the manual:

EXT DC Jack This coaxial DC jack allows connection to an external DC power source (6-16V DC). The center pin of this jack is the Positive (+) connection.

I am not sure what was wrong?? After playing with it for a while,
it seemed to be locked up with "save" flashing and a memory
symbol(as shown in the manual on page 31--something like "Eun").
regards to? Memory Offset Tuning.? But it is fixed now!
Again, thanks for all your advise!!
