Heil HTH-Y and FT-60R?

Chris Smart

Hi.

I have a question about the Heil HTH headset.

I just read in a product review that people have trouble with the Heil HTH-Y headset and the FT-60. Apparently, the plug does not fully insert into the jack, causing the radio to intermittently transmit.

Then, looking at the product page at my local dealer's Website, I read: "*For the weather resistant Yaesu/Vertex such as the VX6R and VX7R please use the HTH-I and a Yaesu CT-91 adapter."

So, which should I get? the HTH-Y, or the HTH-I plus adapter?

Also, has anyone compared this to the SM63 headset from Yaesu? The Heil is about 60% cheaper.

I have the HTH-K for a Kenwood HT and like it a lot.

The weather resistant radios use a screw in 4 way plug, the FT-60 uses a push in 4 way plug.?

I haven't had any problems with my Heil headsets (including the HTH-Y)?
"pulling out" like that.

I have never had a genuine Yaesu MH-34B4B speaker-mic partially disengage?
like others say theirs have, either ...

Interesting. OK, thanks. I won't worry about it then. :)
