Help me

Larry Kilbride

Hi All. I am an ignorant newbie to
this hobby. I have an FT-60R.
I have read the manual till I am
blue in the face. I have a sort of
Dyslexia which makes me a slow
learner. Does anyone know where
I can find some sort of dummy?
training for this radio.
Thanks
Larry?

Check the Files areas of both FT-60 Yahoo groups and check out the books from Nifty Accessories. ?The FT-60 is about the easiest radio in the world to use. All you need for programming can be done from the keypad without going separately into the menu.

There is a card you can buy that has shortcuts. If that would help. Check DX engineering.?

Larry,
No worries. Search Google for "FT-60 Cheat Sheet" It's a succinct, simplified reference to programming the unit. I think it will help.

I like the programming software which interfaces with my computer. Very easy to do the programming and make future changes.

I was faced with the same frustration. There are many fine reminder cards available for free or for little money. But I found that they were only useful after I felt comfortable with the radio. Everyone learns differently.

What helped me was to write my own companion book to the official FT-60E/R manual followed by yet another reminder card. Maybe you will find some value in it: ?

? The commercial "cheat sheet" is the NIFTY-FT60R.? Ham Radio Outlet list it at $6.95.

I bought the little “wallet card” quickie manual thing from HRO for the FT60 but so far haven’t used it. I basically use the ADMS software. But it’s important to know how to program or change settings “in the field” when you don’t have access to a computer.

2 other programming sources are CHIRP (google it) and FT-60 Commander from , both free. ?The FT-60 is still the absolute easiest radio to manually program.

Hey Larry

It's OK, we all were in your shoes at one point. This stuff is technical and is not easy so don't feel so bad. Plus Elmering is at the heart of our hobby so you are not asking too much.

BUT...

It would be much easier to start with a question and then we can go from there. Exactly what are you trying to do? Then we can show you multiple ways of getting to what you want to get to.

I can teach you how to fish, what equipment you need, techniques to use, but to explain the whole ocean ecosystem is going to take some work.

Go for a question.
