No audio except on repeater frequencies where I have entered CTCSS
I have entered ?CTCSS ?minus offset on both 2 meter and 70 cm repeater frequencies ?per pages 22-23 of FT-60R/E operating manual. The audio opens up when I PTT or another signal is present on those frequencies. However, there is no audio when I scan these bands although I can see there is ongoing activity on other frequencies. Is it possible to activate audio when I shift ?to other frequencies, yet retain my settings for my repeater frequencies ? Ed K6EOA anselaw@...? |
开云体育The use of tones (CTCSS) has nothing to do with the offset. ?If you are using tones, keep tsql off. Jardy Dawson WA7JRD Ham Radio On Jan 3, 2016, at 20:12, anselaw@... [FT-60] <FT-60@...> wrote:

It sounds like you may have "SQL.TYP" set to TSQL for all memory channels and the VFO instead of using TONE as your default setting.

When you see activity on a frequency but you are unable to hear anything, check to see if the small "SQ" is shown at the top of the display. If it is, go to the SET Menu, select SQL.TYP, press and release the F/W key, and change the setting to TONE and see what happens. 73, Jim K5JG On 1/3/2016 10:12 PM, anselaw@... [FT-60] wrote:

开云体育This would have to be done on each channel, as it is not a universal setting. (F) 1 works, also.? Jardy Dawson WA7JRD Nobody really cares what device you are using, as long as YOU like it! On Jan 4, 2016, at 05:29, Jim K5JG k5jg@... [FT-60] <FT-60@...> wrote:

I think the first thing I would look at is do I have the decode turned on. If you have repeater channels in memory and have the correct codes set up and are hearing them when stopped on that frequency then you should hear them if you are scanning the memory channels. ? Personally, I do not have ANY of my local repeaters set to TONE SQ - where the unit TX a tine and is set to only break squelch if it hears an incoming tone. Two main reasons:
1. Most of the repeaters in my region do NOT pass their tones through to the output. 2. And if they did, I might accidentally interrupt someone else on the same freq several miles away. Clint K6LCS |

开云体育I have set the all repeaters that I manage to transmit 88.5 Hz, which gives users the option to use full CTCSS if they want to. My ft60 has full CTCSS on the VHF repeater channel in memory. France has never got around to regionalising repeaters into tone groups like the UK has, so although the distances are great with co channel repeaters, it does help when other repeaters come up in propagation. Correct. The audio frequency response of a repeater receiver typically will not pass a CTCSS tone through to the transmitter.

That's why the repeaters that DO transmit tone have a dedicated encoder for the transmitter. 73, Jim K5JG clint@... [FT-60] wrote: 1. Most of the repeaters in my region do NOT pass their tones through to the output. |
