FT-60R $174.95 at HRO!

Wow ... The Yaesu FT-60R is just $174.95 this week at HRO - hamradio.com !(*)

Clnt Bradford, K6LCS

(*) -DISCLAIMER - Yes, I USED to work at HRO. Have I made a penny from HRO since leaving three years ago? Nope. Is there any "commercial incentive" for me to write this message tonight? Nope. Well, I might get a few more folks to join in one of my live "How to Manually Program your FT-60" GoToMeeting sessions - but that, alas, is an expenditure for me. SO ... If you're in the market for a solid 2M/440 HT, this is an incredible price for the next couple of days!

$159 at Texas Towers + free shipping

Same price at HRO now, too ... free shipping, also, to the contiguous 48.

Some vendors charge more for the radio, other vendors charge more for the accessories.

?

Figure out your out-the-door price for the whole package including shipping.

?

It rarely makes sense to buy from two different vendors as any savings will be negated by extra shipping charges.

?

Also, it's a good idea to work with a vendor who can quickly replace your radio should you be unlucky enough to get one that is DOA or quickly develops a defect.? Over the last 25 years, I had to send back two radios for exchange.

Closeout pricing implies a new model is coming out.

Or, are the Chinese radios causing the prices of all radios to come down?

My preference is Ham City -- since they usually have the cheapest RT Systems programming packages and factory accessories. Even though they charge shipping, generally it works out cheaper if you buy everything together.

How about we just list all the ham radio stores rather than recommend the ones we are connected with ?

Amateur Electronic Supply?
Austin Amateur Radio?
Burghardt Radio Repair?
GigaParts?
Ham Radio Outlet?
R & L Electronics?
Texas Towers?
Universal Radio Inc?

There. ?Now pick whichever one you want. ?

If I missed anyone, please add it to the list.

What I do when shopping for radios, antennas, etc.... is set up a spreadsheet and get the price / shipping for each item from each vendor. The lowest total price wins my business -- unless they don't sell everything I want. And it isn't always the place with the cheapest radio price that has the best deal.

It was $159.00 shipping included about 10 days ago and I bought one.

That is when I bought mine too. It is a great radio. I added a Comet(tm)
antenna, programming software & cable, and bought a fast charger and an
extra battery too. What I really like is that I can use the programming
software to sychnonize all of the memory setting and stations on my
FT-7900 and FT-60R.

There is no doubt that the Chinese radios are putting pressure on the HT market to reduce prices for basic HT's, like the FT-60R. So far they seem to have had no real impact on higher end radios.

I was referring to the Waxun (sp) radios that have become somewhat popular with some hams.

That's $20 cheaper than when I bought mine at R&L back in June!
