Help programming Yaesu FT-65R with Chirp

I did not find a group for the Yaesu FT-65R so though I'd try here.? Hope that's OK.? If you know of a FT-65R group, please point me to it.

I cannot get my brand new Yaesu FT-65R to program using Chirp and the Yaesu SCU-59 programming cable.? I am in Memory mode.

?

Windows 10, Device manager shows – Prolific PL2303GC USB Serial COM Port (COM4)

?

When I use Chirp, I get the following error message

?

Failed to communicate with radio: Incorrect echo on serial port. Radio off?? Bad cable?

?

And the display on the radio shows:? Clone OK.

?

Obviously it’s not OK.? I’m dumbfounded.? This is the first time I have ever had a problem using Chirp to program my radios, various Baofeng, Alinco, and even Yaesu FT-818ND.? So I’m not exactly new at this.? Only having a problem with my new HT.

?Can Anyone help me on this?? Or is everyone using RT systems software??

Thanks, Richard AG5M

Some cables marked as Prolific have a problem with their programming chip. You might try rolling back the chip driver to 3.2.0.0. ?This driver can be found at www.miklor.com. ? This is a great website with lots of info on many things ham radio.?

Hope it helps.?

Do Yaesu themselves have programming software for that radio? Also, how hard is it to program from the front panel?

I thought the?Yaesu SCU-35 or SCU-59 cable worked with the '65 ...

And yes: Licensees of RTSystems' titles love them (g).

Chris,

?

Yaesu does not have their own programming software (at least I don’t think so - You have a Yaesu cable?).? RT systems makes programming software for Yaesu radios.

?

?

Their software can only be used with their programming cable,? so be sure to order both if you decide to go with their software.

Yaesu does have their own programming software, I installed it. And the cable is genuine Yaesu SCU-59 from HRO. The problem is in my laptop, not the radio, the software, the driver, or the cable. Will have to figure this out.
