I recently bought a Yeasu speaker mic SSM-17A to go with my new FT-60R. I first started using it by holding it close to my lips but speaking across it, not into it. This is how I have always used my ham mics. However I received some reports that my audio was too "hot" and experimented with holding it 5 - 6 inches away from my mouth. This resulted in better audio reports. However, this is not how I would like to use the mic.
Has anyone had comments about the FT-60 audio using this speaker mic? I have not yet been able to test with using the front panel mic only.
Any comments are welcome.
