You can use Windows to identify the hardware ID, then Google the hardware ID to see if you can find drivers. Often the seller will have a website that will have drivers available. ?
So in my effort to mange my financial affairs more prudently, (read cheap), I ordered the EBay software and cable to program my FT 60.
A) the FT60 is not even listed on the disc, B) After downloading Commander, I find it doesn't even recognize the USB cable that I bought. Should I now just order the programming package from HRO? Am I doing something wrong? Commander documentation says I need the adapter CT-2 from another vendor. HELP!!! |

Re: Smart Charger for FT-60R?

The spacer plate is needed for the FT-60R. My old VX-170 and VX-177 do not need it. If you get that charger, remove the "sticky" stuff from the spacer plate, and replace it with a single layer of black electrical tape. That provides a good fit, and allows for easy removal.
Also, at the group's suggestion, I picked up a light timer at the local hardware store - $8.96. Does the charge limiting trick very nicely. My Wouxun HTs come with a "smart" charger for the Li Ion batteries, so with those, I can leave them on the charger all the time. If I want to do an extended charge, there is a switch on the timer that bypasses the timing unit. /paul W3FIS |

You can use Windows to identify the hardware ID, then Google the hardware ID to see if you can find drivers. Often the seller will have a website that will have drivers available. From: Clayton Cullen No I did not find any drivers or instructions to do so. ? ? ? ? Did you install any USB drivers before plugging in the cable? With about 80-90% of the USB devices, you have to
install the driver before you plug it in. ? |

Re: Programming Software and Cable
I just purchased the serial cable from ebay. When it gets here i will let you know how it works. I have read that the usb cable doesnt work with the freely available programs I wish to use so I opted to get the serial cable. If it works it may be a more affordable alternative.

开云体育The CD-26 may work with the FT-60R, I don't know either
way.? But be aware that the VAC-370 uses the CD-29 cradle which comes with
a spacer plate that must be used with some radios.

I found that buying the Yaesu software from HRO was the best thing I could do. It talks to the radio with no problems. Richard Von Aschen, N7RIS From: Clayton Cullen To: FT-60@... Sent: Wednesday, August 10, 2011 7:40 PM Subject: [FT-60] Programming Software and Cable

Instead of trying to find a smart charger for my
FT-60 I just plugged the charger that came with it into a light
timer and set it to come on for 10 minutes every day.? The battery
stays charged and I don't have to worry about it over charging.?
When I've used it for an event I just charge it over night then
put it back on the timer. Searched the archives for this info. The most recent post I found was over 4 yrs old & some of the chargers are NLA. My FT-60 uses a FNB-83 7.2 volt NiMH battery. Anyone bought a smart charger recently & care to rate it? TIA, Charley, kf5jth |

开云体育I'm with Nick on this one.? I do the same as him. Getting more miles
per gallon on Eneloops and recharging?in the?MAHA's than with
replacement battery packs. Your mileage may vary.

Re: Smart Charger for FT-60R?
Are you only charging FT-60 NiMH packs?Anyone bought a smart charger recently & care to rate it? Do you have any other chemistries of FT-60 packs? (Li-Ion, NiCD) Do you also desire to charge AA NiMH cells? Do you have any other radios with different configuration battery packs? If I only had my original FT-60R and its NiMH pack and desired an intelligent, quick charger just for it, I'd go with the Yaesu VAC-370. Simple and elegant. Will also charge a battery pack off the radio. But let us know if your needs are more involved than that! Clint Bradford, K6LCS 909-241-7666 |

开云体育I use a Yaesu VAC-370 to charge both the HT and my spare
battery.? Not sure about trickle charge, but at least there's a green light
that lets me know when it's charged.

Re: Smart Charger for FT-60R?
Some people have reported using a lamp timer to limit the time the wall wart is energized. ? 73, Nick, AA3T ? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Charley" To: FT-60@... Sent: Wednesday, August 10, 2011 8:41:31 AM Subject: [FT-60] Re: Smart Charger for FT-60R? ? Thanks for the reply, Nick. I have Eneloop cells in some of my radio control transmitters & chargers therefore. However, what I'm looking for is a smart charger that I can drop the FT-60 into in order to top it off and hold it on trickle charge until I'm ready to use it again. The wall wart that came with it is a PITA & in my old age I'm sometimes forgetting that I have the FT-60 on charge. Much more of that & the battery will be toast. |
