Re: Mic Gain Adjustment
The Heil headset works fine here with both my FT-60 and FT-70. Make sure the plug is firmly seated in the jack and the mic element is close to your mouth. Also, the two ends of that tiny

Re: Mic Gain Adjustment
Hi Clint,Does the FT60 supply DC bias for the microphone element or is there a battery holder in the headset?73,Gary K9GS

Re: Mic Gain Adjustment
Have you messed with the TX deviation setting? That Heil setup has worked for me for many years. -- Clint Bradford K6LCS http//www.work-sat.com

Re: Headset
I'm not familiar with that headset but specs show an electret microphone element which must have bias applied to function.? I don't think the FT60 supplies bias.Is there a place to put in a

Mic Gain Adjustment
Does anyone have a suggestion for adjusting mic gain on the FT-60? I need to increase it to use a Heil HTHY headset.

Re: Headset
I put the Heil HTHY on my Yaesu FT-60. The earpiece sound quality was very good. However the mic gain was low based on the signal reports I received. Since the FT-60 doesn't have a mic gain setting, I

Re: Looking for review of earpiece lapel mic SSM-518A
Try for a single headset with a noise cancelling boom mic attached, so you are speaking directly into the mic. That's my .02 worth. Yep, for example, HEIL HTH-Y

It picks up background noise and the voice is hard to understand in some situations.? Try for a single headset with a noise cancelling boom mic attached, so you are speaking directly into the mic.?

Looking for review of earpiece lapel mic SSM-518A
I'm looking for a new microphone for my FT 60 for use in the car and since I'm pretty deaf in one ear I thought this lapel mic earpiece might be a solution. Has anyone used it? What can you say about

Re: life expectancy of HT in general
Hi Jayne, I am no expert, but some chargers for Nicad and NiMh cells turn on the "charged light " - which may be green color, when the battery voltage exceeds a certain threshold. These chargers do

Re: life expectancy of HT in general
" Once it drops below 7.6V I can't transmit. This just seems rather odd, " I don't think that is normal.? Under load, you really can't expect 6x NiMH to maintain over 7V. My problem is that no

Re: life expectancy of HT in general
The reading when I turn the HT on straight off of the charger is 8.6V. I have it attached to a Signal Staff OSJ collapsible J pole. I use the standard FNB83 battery. I'm using the standard Yaesu drop

Re: life expectancy of HT in general
Sounds like bad batteries or a bad charger. When you first turn the radio on, what battery voltage do you read? I have 2 FT-60s. They both have been charged in the last few weeks, but not used since

Re: life expectancy of HT in general
Yes, what Clint said! He's an authority on the FT-60.? I only use Powerex Pro NiMH? AAcells in TWO FBA-25 alkaline cases, so there's always a fresh backup.? Much more economical than buying

Re: life expectancy of HT in general
I have owned several of these since the moment they were released 18 years ago. Each performs as if they were brand-new ... I mainly use 2700mAH AA NiMH cells in the FBA-25 alkaline case - and charge
