Re: Differences between an FT-60 and a FT-60R?
Take off the battery pack and the sticker on the radio has the model number. My front panel reads FT-60 sticker on inside reads FT-60R.

Re: Differences between an FT-60 and a FT-60R?
Band Plan differences between Europe and the US are the differences in the HT versions. And the "E:" version was discontinued a few years ago.

Re: Differences between an FT-60 and a FT-60R?
Are we discussing the front panel marking versus the printing on the
carton? My panel reads only "FT-60" and the radio behaves like the R that I

Re: Differences between an FT-60 and a FT-60R?
Clint,
Thank you for your response.
However, I just bought what I thought was an FT-60R from HRO and received an FT-60 (no R) on it, or the factory box.

Re: CD-16/ VAC800 charger?
The CD-16 was offered for HTs that used NiMH packs ... I do not believe it is "Li-Ion-aware."

Re: Differences between an FT-60 and a FT-60R?
There is no "FT-60."
The FT-60R is a model meant for US distribution.
FT-60E (now discontinued) was for the European market.

I recently bought a Yeasu speaker mic SSM-17A to go with my new FT-60R. I first started using it by holding it close to my lips but speaking across it, not into it. This is how I have always used my

You can certainly use Chirp and a generic cable if you'd like, but there's an FT60R option available as well. This software has a few more nice features and is specific to the radio. It comes in
