Re: My FT-60 problems
As much as those radios cost me, as well as the brand name headset this is
very disappointing.

W5TXP,
Sorry to hear about your frustrations with the FT-60R. I won't comment on
most of your email bc I've not experienced those difficulties myself.
I have experienced a yaesu mic unplugging

Re: My FT-60 problems
My experience with FT60 is quite different.
I have no issue to access a repeater on 2m and 70cm that is ~25miles from my place with the factory supplied antenna even from my sitting room.

Re: Battery or radio
Yes, thanks that is what I will do. However, I want to make sure it is not the radio. Down the road, I plan on getting a new FT-60, as this one is around 10 years old.. Until that day comes, I have a

Re: Battery or radio
OK, wasn't sure what that meant, thought it was something to do with the radio.
As for your battery, I would bite the bullet and get a new Yaesu FNB-83 you have the drop in SBH-13 charger right?

Re: Will new antenna fit ok
Thank you Andrew, well I got a new Diamond SRH-77ca today and it is quite an improvement on receive when compared to the stock FT-60r antenna. Also hitting repeaters I could not key up before. Have

Re: Will new antenna fit ok
Gary,
Can you put a full wave loop antenna of about 80inches of wire on a window facing the intended target?
Coax feed on the side for vertical polarisation.

Battery or radio
My FT-60 is about 10 years old. It was getting time to replace the battery
again. I ordered a battery from Big Time Battery Electronics for around
$20,00. (https://www.bigtimebattery.com/)

Re: Will new antenna fit ok
Clint, terrain is a big problem. I am at a low elevation, there are a few repeaters on 2m/440m I can hit, but I come in scratchy. What I really need is something like a 5/8 mag-mount in my attic, but

Re: Will new antenna fit ok
If you are not making it at all with the stock antenna, chances are a 15-17¡± antenna won¡¯t do it for you, either. Has NOTHING to do with the quality of the Yaesu FT-60R.

I use a Comet SMA 24 and a counterpoise/tiger tail of 19 inch on my FT60.
