I don¡¯t have a radio in front of me, but I believe you do a quick press and release of the lower left hand button. There should be a symbol that looks like the ¡®atom¡¯ sign.?

I am not sure what was wrong? After playing with it for a while,
it seemed to be locked up with "save" flashing and a memory
symbol(as shown in the manual on page 31--something like "Eun").

If you think it might have something to do with the battery that is attached. Remove the battery. If you have a AA battery pack, load it with fresh cells and see. If you have a cigarette lighter,

Are you trying to transmit on a frequency outside the ham bands? ?The radio has a lot of frequencies it can receive, but can only transmit in ham bands.?

Hello:
When I hit the transmit button on my FT 60R, it shows "ERROR". It receives ok
and the battery voltage shows 8.1 volts ?? It sat unused for about 3 months and

Yes, I have a couple of ft-50 radios and I have the spring pins for the battery contacts. Those commonly go bad as well as the power button.

it could be only a gummed up switch pad
I believe those switches are a carbon filled rubber pad on the underside of the push buttons that makes a circuit on the pcb and over time the pcb gets gummed
