Re: Digit 1 Replaced by a "P "on Display of Memory Tag
It works that way on commercial radios some models let the user select the priority channel

Thank you Clint. So I guess, unless I activate the programmed scan, I can keep it that way. Ill look for that topic in the manual. 73, Ramon |
Re: HB battery pack using Li-po cells
It's a little annoying to have to take the battery off the radio, clip it to the charger, and hook the charger to a DC power supply.? So I bought a Yaesu charger base for $9 on Amazon (no longer available) which turned out to be a CD-30.? I removed parts from the internal PCB so I could use some of the traces, and cut a few traces.? Then I installed a T5100 charger module, having bridged the "set" gap for 8.4V operation and reconfigured the current limit resistors for a 0.5A charge rate limit.? I connected the green side of the bicolor LED to the LED holes closest to the LED on the new PCB.? Now the red charge LED's light appears dimly in the indicator while charging and original LED illuminates once done.? I tried posting photos to the Photos area and when that didn't work, posted them inside a message, but neither worked.? So I'll just offer the photos to anyone interested, just reply using the "Private" box and I'll email them to you.

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýDid you name the channel with the frequency, or is it showing the frequency without using a name tag? ?If you named it from the frequency, just replace the P with a 1.?Jardy Dawson WA7JRD Message sent by....Oh look!! Digit 1 Replaced by a "P "on Display of Memory Tag
Hi Guys,
I hope somebody can be kind enough to refresh my old memory. I just got a new programming cable for my FT-60R to able to update the radio's programmed frequencies. I've checked the manual but could not find a mention of this - on a couple of my 2M simplex channels, 146.520, 146.415, 146.445 MHz, the first digit "1" shows as a "P" on the radio display....? Would anyone know why this is so... TIA |
Re: Wow, 2,600 LiIon Pack?
I would go for this if only the construction allowed replacing the two cells which appear to be 18650. Sadly it does not appear to be like that. The only reason is a properly molded case looks better than a 3D-printed one. Of course, I would still need a charger.?

Re: Wow, 2,600 LiIon Pack?
Interesting find. About a year ago, I printed a free design off of Thingverse.com for an 18650 cell battery pack (the same one that has been mentioned here). It works pretty well and provides a ton more battery capacity than the standard nimh batteries, which are terrible. I probably should be using a bms, but I don't and have yet to have a problem. The nice thing is that I can carry a couple extra cells in a back pack and swap them out if needed, although I do not recall a time when I ever needed extra batteries. I harvested a ton of 18650 cells from old laptop and e-bike batteries that people were just going to put in a landfill, so I have a near limitless supply of power for my FT-60 now!
