HB battery pack using Li-po cells
My FT-60R’s original battery pack had failed. It would take a charge and receive for a few days, but would turn itself off when I try to transmit. I also wanted a lighter battery. So, I converted it

Re: Unwanted DTMF on PTT
This is one that bugs most everyone, mysteriously, until we're finally driven to reach out! What a relief that in this case there *is* a "Back button".

Re: Unwanted DTMF on PTT
I love that the FT-60 is so easy to program that I usually don’t have to mess about on the computer.

Re: Unwanted DTMF on PTT
There is a way to 'permanently' get rid of wirex. I did this for my ft60.Google it. It can be undone if needed. Also similar steps for the mobile radios.Rudi wa2nub

Re: Unwanted DTMF on PTT
Thanks All. I thought it might be that but didn't want to drill down too much more. Sometimes a mistaken button push gets unintended results, and there's no "Undo" or "Back" function(that I'm aware

Re: Unwanted DTMF on PTT
You probably have the WIRES feature enabled. Look for an “atom” looking symbol in the upper right of the screen (if I recall correctly).
Press and hold 0 (zero) to toggle it on and off. It’s

Re: Unwanted DTMF on PTT
That would be the infamous WIRES function. Read the manual to see how to turn that off. It’s easy, but I don’t have a radio in front of me to check which key to press. I think it’s Function and

Re: Unwanted DTMF on PTT
You’ve turned on Wires… predecessor to Wires-X.
Just hit the 0 key on the keypad and that will turn it off.

Re: Wow, 2,600 LiIon Pack?
I wonder if they are actually AA size, or a tiny bit larger making the fit too tight.

Quality MiMH are 2700mAH ... 750-1000 discharge-charge cycles if intelligent charger is used.

Re: Wow, 2,600 LiIon Pack?
I personally would prefer the LiIon vs NiMh, but yeah as mentioned,
check the actual capacity. If the capacities are close, I'd take the
LiIon over NiMh.

Re: Wow, 2,600 LiIon Pack?
Thanks Nick.
I found a 2,500 mAH NIMH pack elsewhere, so I might try that instead.

Re: Wow, 2,600 LiIon Pack?
You have to take capacity ratings for Chinese-made batteries with a grain of salt.? When rated using standard test methods, the capacity is often lower.
You need a charger specific to the lithium
