Re: Beep when transmitting
WIRES is on. If so, there is a small atom symbol in the upper right corner of the display. To turn it off, momentarily touch the 0 key.

FNB-V67Li... Other Lithium alternatives
In my opinion, 2000mAh Lithium is pretty lame when compared to the radio's default capacity. I decided to build one myself after realizing how much it was going to cost me to convert to Vertex's Li-ion battery plus charger. ?I used unprotected NCR18650b cells, which provide me with about 6 days of use on a single charge. The only thing I have to watch for is the discharge voltage. It is not good for the Li cells to run the pack down below 6V. With protected cells, the discharge voltage cut off is at about 3V per cell, so no worries there. On my next build, I plan to use a protected 2S?Li-po with the proper dimensions to fix in the standard case to maintain water protection. Here is a good how-to for those interested on building or converting old battery packs to Li-ion. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AfAkIUUxPXk I recommend these protected 3400mAh 18650 batteries(beware of cheap knock-offs) https://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-NCR18650B-3400mAh-Protected-Batteries/dp/B00NUI47OY Safety first... http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/archive/lithium_ion_safety_concerns |

Subject: [FT-60] FNB-V67Li availability Europe ?
?
Hello, I'm trying to locate a Lithium battery for the FT-60 (and FT-270). Is the FNB-v67Li discontinued ? Most ham radio shops don't carry it. Are you aware of any online shops in Europe where i could find this battery ? ? p.s. Is there any other Lithium battery that will fit the FT-60 ? p.s.2 I allready have the charger needed for the lithium battery. |

Re: FT-60E vs FT-60R TX coverage (446MHz) question
Hi. Further to the reply by Greg, you do not need to modify anything to use PMR channels. I have a FT-60E purchased in Spain and, in spite that the channels cannot be sintonized precisely, the nearest approach using the 12.5 kHz step works very well. So, keep it legal and enjoy the product.

attach signalink usb
i would like to connect a signalink usb to my ft-60r. i want to do a demonstration of rms express. i looked at? the manual, and it shows a cable setup for a tnc, with the mic adapter. with the signalink usb, do i need the adapter? will the signalink control the ptt, if yes, can i make my own cable, and do i need to install a resistor, and capacitor? i already have the signalink, and use it with my ft-8900r.

Re: FT-60E vs FT-60R TX coverage (446MHz) question
Do not modify your radio.
You will loose Automatic Repeater Shift and most importantly in your case, you cannot use it on PMR anyway. FT-60 does not have a 6.25 KHz step so you won't be able to tune to the PMR frequencies (Exaclty). Enjoy it as it is :) |
Re: FT-60E vs FT-60R TX coverage (446MHz) question
Let me elaborate on Jardy's answer. The topic of modifications is forbidden on this forum. From the "About" on this forum: The ?site does appear to have entries relevant to your topic. If they do not fit your needs, perhaps you should post a question there. Greg K0MGL |

Hello! I'm a new owner of FT-60E but I'm in need of expanding TX coverage. In my country there's allwoed to use also 8 channels PMR (public mobile radio) on 446MHz. I know that FT-60 is designed to use on 2m and 70cm HAM bands, and does it well but there's a difference between 60E and 60R. On 60E TX coverage ends with 440Mhz so it excludes desired 446MHz. 60R TX coverage ends on 450MHz and it includes 446MHz. What makes a difference between these models? Is it a software limit or something general on PCB design?? I know there's a "MARS CAP" mod to remove one resistor from PCB board, and expand TX coverage to 470MHz, but this is not I really need. I need just 446MHz coverage that FT60R already has from factory.? Is there a way turn my Yaesu FT60E to FT60R? |
