Re: plans for dual band yagi
Handheld tape measure beams/yagis are an inexpensive way to get into the world of high gain with your HTs. Heck, I turned my TX power DOWN to 2W to speak with ISS Commander Wiseman two Field Days ago

Re: plans for dual band yagi
yes on tape measure. I saw that 1 but it really wont hold up if I decide to put up on tower to sue perm. this project is kind of double edged. I want to make 1 with the scouts here maybe to use for

Re: plans for dual band yagi
Fred.?Qst had an article in the January 2012 issue on making a tape measure dual band beam, the link is:http://www.work-sat.com/Antennas_files/W6NBC-Beam.pdf Another choice would be made from pvc and

Re: plans for dual band yagi
Google cheap Yagi. Simple plans. Dual requires two separate antennas and feed lines, unless you build a duplexer. This message was delivered by flying monkeys!

Re: Question about FT60R vs. the FT60E
Hi, I have sent Kirby a private message, but the repeater shifts are all over the place. Generally standardised as 1.6 at plus and minus shifts, more lately Belgium and the low countries have gone for

Re: Question about FT60R vs. the FT60E
Kerby, If you have the RT Systems software for programming the FT-60R, it allows you to select the shift for each memory channel or VFO in a pull-down menu in the "Offset Frequency" column. 1.6 MHz

Re: Question about FT60R vs. the FT60E
I know they don't have as much band width, either. 144-146 on 2m, 430 or 440-450 on 70cm, compared to 144-148 and 420-450 US. Jardy Dawson WA7JRD Sent from the Death Star for Darth Vader's eyes only.

Sorry I was wrong on the repeater shift. It is 1.6 in Great Britain but in Luxembourg it is 7.6 Mhz. Here is a list of the repeaters in Luxembourg (I live in Belgium but on the border with Luxembourg:

Re: Question about FT60R vs. the FT60E
Hey Jardy -- looked over the dead pigeons and the answer is the offset amount is different. It is a 1.6MHz repeater shift as opposed to the 5MHz US shift.

Re: Programming using Chirp
We only have macs and I personally was not able to program my ft-60r using Chirp. I have a feeling some have been able to who have downloaded Python and then the Chirp software. Don't give up. Carl
