antenna, programming software & cable, and bought a fast charger and an extra battery too. What I really like is that I can use the programming software to sychnonize all of the memory setting and stations on my FT-7900 and FT-60R. Pete - KD4CQZ -----Original Message-----

What I do when shopping for radios, antennas, etc.... is set up a spreadsheet and get the price / shipping for each item from each vendor. The lowest total price wins my business -- unless they don't sell everything I want. And it isn't always the place with the cheapest radio price that has the best deal. Ham City -- http://www.hamcity.com/ How about we just list all the ham radio stores rather than recommend the ones we are connected with ? Amateur Electronic Supply? Austin Amateur Radio? Burghardt Radio Repair? GigaParts? Ham Radio Outlet? R & L Electronics? Texas Towers? Universal Radio Inc? There. ?Now pick whichever one you want. ? If I missed anyone, please add it to the list. |

My preference is Ham City -- since they usually have the cheapest RT Systems programming packages and factory accessories. Even though they charge shipping, generally it works out cheaper if you buy everything together. > $149.95 at R&L But R&L also charges shipping. |

Closeout pricing implies a new model is coming out. ? Re: FT-60R $174.95 at HRO!
Some vendors charge more for the radio, other vendors charge more for the accessories. ? Figure out your out-the-door price for the whole package including shipping. ? It rarely makes sense to buy from two different vendors as any savings will be negated by extra shipping charges. ? Also, it's a good idea to work with a vendor who can quickly replace your radio should you be unlucky enough to get one that is DOA or quickly develops a defect.? Over the last 25 years, I had to send back two radios for exchange. ? 73, Nick, AA3T ? ----- Original Message ----- From: "David Nailling" To: FT-60@... Same price at HRO now, too ... free shipping, also, to the contiguous 48.

¿ªÔÆÌåÓýThe cable for my FT-60R arrived today. I fired up the computer and imported the stations that I entered for my FT-7900 into the FT-60R. In only a few minutes the FT-60 was fully programmed and ready to go.That sure beats the heck out of manually entering over 100 stations. --

Re: Charging

So far, the best way I have found out of this whole mess is a light timer. I am using the "quick charging" cradle. For complete charge, turn the timer "on" to the bypass mode. Otherwise, I leave my FT-60R in the cradle, and have the light timer turn the charger on for about 15 minutes once a day.
Light timers are available in most hardware stores for around $10.00. I got the mechanical type. Works great. Problem solved. /paul W3FIS |
Re: Software from G4FTQ
Is there a similar memory management program for my FT-60 on a Mac notebook?

Bob's (G4HFQ)software is second to none and his customer support is fantastic. I also bought my cable from him. There was an issue with the cable when used with my FT-60R; the rubber shoulder of the plug prevented it from inserting fully into the radio. At Bob's direction, I shaved 1mm off the rubber shoulder and the issue was resolved. You won't regret purchasing his products. Rich KC8TJ |
