FT60 Clone Cable CT27
Is there anything special about the clone cable for this radio?
I have a 4 pole to 4 pole lead but the Tx radio shows "error" the Rx sits in "Rx" mode.
All I need to do is clone one FT60 to another, because manually entering is such a pain in time management!!!
They may be cheap to buy but... any ideas? CHIRP was not one of my desires to follow as this is a "one off" use.
Cheers, Mark. |
life expectancy of HT in general
I've done some searching in this forum (and a few other places) and come up empty, so I thought I'd ask. Does this HT have general life expectancy? The reason I'm suspicious of my 20+ year old unit is due to battery life across a number of batteries, some of them new or <1 year old. I've tried both HRO and cheaper Amazon batteries, and they don't hold a charge well. My charging cradle shows a steady green light on all of them so I don't think it's the battery or the cradle. I haven't been on the air much due to work but when I am, battery life caves, even if I'm not transmitting. My Tx is on Low and the Power Saver feature is enabled. And when power is low, obviously Tx is negatively affected. I'd appreciate any guidance on this matter, including other investigations I might conduct to determine the problem. Thanks!

Re: Battery
The charger that came with my FT-60 says 12 VDC @ 2 amps, center pin positive, and the manufacturer is Vertex Standard. ?

Re: Battery
开云体育Hi Dave,
You need the 12v wall wart at least. I use the SBH-13 cradle. Needs 12v at 1amp!
There may be FT60s that will only charge on the cradle. There is also a fast charge cradle.

I once noted that the charger I was using brought the battery only up to 7.2 volts.? ??
Hmmm......
On investigating it looks like I was using the wrong "wall wart" power supply.
Now I cant find the right one.? ? DARN.? TOO MUCH STUFF around here.
What wall wart am I supposed to be using ??? ? ?

Re: Battery
I have tested the charger which reads 12V output. I have tested the battery after being on the charger for 12 hours and it reads 7.2V When I turn on the radio after the battery is fully charged it reads 7.2V When I key the PTT I see the radio restart and the voltage dropping by 0.1V every time I key the PTT. So, I am unclear if the battery is damaged or the radio. Is there anything I else I can test? This is a new radio, purchased in July 2024 with factory battery. Re: Battery
Battery voltage is shown on the display when the radio is turned on...what is the voltage. Is it a Yaesu battery or an aftermarket clone?

Re: No Download With CHIRP
If you cannot get CHIRP to work, try using the FT-60 Commander. Software. You can find this program for free at KC8UNJ.com. Use the alternate write method.?

This way, you should be able to tell if it is a radio problem or software issue. ? On Friday, August 30, 2024, 17:56, Michael WA7SKG <wa7skg@...> wrote:

No Download With CHIRP
I have two FT-60R handhelds. I cannot get them to download to CHIRP. I hold the Moni and turn it on, select F8 Clone, hit F/W and it is in clone mode. When I hit PTT, it never goes to ---TX---. Doesn't matter whether cable is attached or not, or whether CHIRP has been started or not. Every now and then, sometimes holding the PTT for just a second, sometimes holding it for 5-10 seconds, it will momentarily go into ---TX---, but never does the download. CHIRP eventually says "Failure to communicate with radio: Radio not responding."
?
I did this a year or so ago and right after pushing the PTT for a second, it went right into ---TX---. Now it doesn't.
?
Pushing the Moni button it goes right into ---RX---, but I have no file to upload. I know I had files for this radio previously, but I seem to have lost them.
?
My programming cable uses an FTDI chip. It is an after market MIRKIT cable. I've not seen any complaints about it.
?
Any ideas what I may be doing wrong?
