Fully Draining battery before re-charging question
I am sorry if I overlooked this answer somewhere else. I just purchased my first ft-60 and wondered if it was best to let the battery "completely drain" before recharging, and just re-charge when the battery indicator shows low?? Someone mentioned letting it "completely drain" before re-charging - left it on for about 20 minutes after the low battery indicator started flashing .? I just want to do what is best for the battery.? Also, approx. what low voltage reading will trigger the low battery indicator? ? Thank you. -Scott

Re: FBA-25A battery holder question
I've found the Energizer 2300mAh NiMH to be a little tough to fit in some other unforgiving AA battery compartments. ?The unfortunately _incredibly_ tight battery pack fit on this HT would make anything even a hair too big a difficult or impossible fit. ?Alkalines should work, though.

Re: FBA-25A battery holder question
Hmmm ... I know it's sometimes a tight squeeze ... and you know there's a thin rubber gasket along the?
outside edge of the case ...? Please let us know your results. I have used alkalines from Amazon and Duracell, and NiMH from Maha /? Powerwerx with success. ? Clint Bradford K6LCS http//www.work-sat.com |
FBA-25A battery holder question
I picked up the AA battery case at Dayton.. I put 6 Duracell AA batteries in it and can't really get the battery clip to latch. Is there that much variation in AA battery dimensions that some work and some don't? I spoke with a tech at Batteries America and he told me that some guys have improved the fit by using a sharp pair of cutters and trimming a turn off the positive spring contacts. Has anyone done this? I attempted it with a couple pairs of small diagonal cutters but couldn't seem to get in close enough. Thanks.

Re: Is there a good explanation on how to use Yaesu Memory banks?
Good evening I am not sure by what you mean by all the steps??it took to start scanning in a memory bank......... I turned my FT60.? Made sure it was in memory mode.? It was scanning bank 1. It was paused since I just turned it on.? I pressed the UP arrow on the top right side of the keypad. It began scanning upwards. I pressed PTT. It stopped. I pressed the UP button and it resumes where it left off. I hope this helps. The FT60 is? a great little dual bander.; 73 Frank KB3PQT |
Re: Antenna connection adapters-kit
I'm glad you commented about the loss.? I can't count the times I have heard that connectors add loss, anywhere from 0.25db up to 1db per connector.
Jim W6LG, has a couple videos on his YouTube channel about this topic.? He uses 20 various connectors, all attached to each other, and uses a RigExpert meter, the loss was something like 0.12db if memory serves me correctly. That being said, using cheap, bottom of barrel connectors, I would suspect that you would see some loss in db.? A situation arose, where I had to make a repair to my 75 ft feed line for my 2M/70cm rig.? It got severed about 20 ft from the radio.? I soldered on new connectors to each end and used a barrel connector.? I didn't do any measurements in db but my SWR was the same as before, same forward power and reflected.? That example might be like comparing apples to oranges in a way but if I measured the db, I don't think I would see any meaningful loss. |
Re: Is there a good explanation on how to use Yaesu Memory banks?
UPDATE: I found what I needed to know, sort of, in the manual after all. I am unclear though; if I am scanning in a memory bank and I interrupt the scan by pushing PTT to listen do I have to go through all the steps it took to start scanning in a memory bank or do I just hold the up/down button for 1 second like I do now to start it back up?
Hi. This was a great post and I found it very informative. I am new to amateur radio and? to the FT-60. Could you help me to understand how, once I have the banks set up, do I go about scanning in them. I have the manual. I have read it. Some how I don't get it. Have you any advice or instruction? Thank so much and -- 73 Al McManus???? KN6ZVI San Martin, CA |
