Hi Chris,

spraying DeOxIT from the outsite onto the shaft of the pot will not help.
Access to the housing of the pot, where the carbon layer is, would only be possible from the inside.
The pots used in these radios have very tightly closed housings, unlike the classical pots, where could often find a gap where the contacts are located.
Simly spraying on the housing may get some liquid creeping into the inside, but whether it reaches the carbon track would be very questionable, but maybe worth a try.

Often, just simply exercising the pot al lot of times will mitigate the problem.
A oxidation layer on the wiper might get removed with this.

If the carbon track is severly damaged, best is to replace the pot.

I’m starting to get some cracking when adjusting volume.

I have some cleaners here, including the version of DeOxIT intended for pots and faders.

?

Where do I apply a tiny bit? Do I need to open the radio to get at the actual pot?

?

Thanks

Re: Using Digirig with FT-60

Never heard of the DigiRig?before.? Looks interesting.? Can it also do EchoLink?... I guess I should go look ;-)

The other way around this is a ( may not be the exact cable and soundcard / VOX box .... but talk to them on the phone / email / text ) to get the pre-made cable from them with the header chip from SignaLink =)

I may try the same thing too =)
here is a good spot to ask questions ( I just joined and awaiting approval =)

Re: FBA-25A battery case question

I use eneloop (Panasonic) rechargeable batteries in the FBA-25 tray?and they fit tightly and will not latch without force.

Currently I'm using?Energizer NMH rechargeables with good results.??
Commonly available at big box stores in my area.

Re: FBA-25A battery case question

I have been using MAHA 2500 to 2700 mA nickel metal hydride cells since 2004 in my FBA-25 trays with absolutely no problem.

Did you try transmitting? The rechargeable are lower voltage.

Subject: [Yaesu-FT-60] FBA-25A battery case question

The instructions molded into my FBA-25A battery case state "For alkaline batteries only".

I have a handful of no-name NiMH rechargeable AA batteries that fit into the case.? However, these batteries are every so slightly larger in diameter than a normal alkaline, so, the FBA-25A slides onto the back of the FT-60 but will not latch -- comes very close but won't latch.? The FT-60 comes on with the case in place but the battery case is not snapped into the body of the FT-60.

Anyone have any suggestions for rechargeable AA's that will fit into the FBA-25A that are not so big the case will not snap?

Thanks,
Joe

The car “charger” is not a charger it is designed to run the radio. Some wall chargers are the same way. If I recall correctly to actually charge the battery you need about 13.8 volts.

In order to charge the battery pack from the FT-60 there needs to be 3 terminals on the top of the pack where it connects the the radio.? If there are only 2 terminals you won't be able to charge the pack from the radio.? If you look at the newer FT-60s compared to the old ones the missing 3rd terminal on the bottom of the radio is why you can't charge batteries, even the old ones, from the radio.? New replacement packs from 3rd parties may not have the charging terminal.

Well, darn, Steve. Thanks for all your answers ...

Proper charging of good-quality NiMH packs should result in more than 500 discharge-charge?
cycles.

I just don't know why you're experiencing the problems you are. Submit a ticket to Yaesu and see?
what notes they may have.
