That is the 2nd button from the left, Has the atom icon and is the 0 button. Also a Set function. According to the directions that is what you do.

The manual on page 61 discusses this setting. Including how to turn it off and on. There is a URL for more information Take the URL and it plainly states this is a discontinued feature.

I am not sure what was wrong?? After playing with it for a while, it seemed to be locked up with "save" flashing and a memory symbol(as shown in the manual on page 31--something like "Eun"). regards to? Memory Offset Tuning.? But it is fixed now! Again, thanks for all your advise!! 73 Bob

Are you trying to transmit on a frequency outside the ham bands? ?The radio has a lot of frequencies it can receive, but can only transmit in ham bands.?

Yes, I have a couple of ft-50 radios and I have the spring pins for the battery contacts. Those commonly go bad as well as the power button.

it could be only a gummed up switch pad
I believe those switches are a carbon filled rubber pad on the underside of the push buttons that makes a circuit on the pcb and over time the pcb gets gummed up from the rubber. ? you might try taking it apart and cleaning the pcb traces that make up the switch contacts and the conductive black rubber on the push buttons using cotton swabs and rubbing alcohol. do not aggressively scrub the black rubber or you will scrub the conductive carbon particles out of the rubber. ? just a thought.
