Re: FT-60 batteries
开云体育I’ll look into that! Still using the same battery that came with it, the FNB-83, 1400’s. Had the radio for at least 8 years.

Re: FT-60 batteries
I just bought some FNB-V94 batteries from Batteries America. They are 1800 mwh.? ?They are identical size wise to the original 1400s. They (I think) are for a commercial radio.?? Batteries America has several options for the FT-60.? ?I liked the idea of a factory battery with a bit more juice in it. Steve K4ELI |
Re: FT-60 batteries
开云体育New batteries usually show 8.4 volts fully charged. Older batteries will start to weaken after a while. Re: FT-60R as a scanner?
I use mt FT60 as a scanner.
Using RT Systems programming software, I entered: -- all 2-meter repeater freqs -- all 432 repeater freqs -- local repeater freqs -- simplex freqs -- local public service freqs (I'm an EMT with local volunteer rescue squad) -- SO-50 -- A0-91 -- AO-92 Then, I assigned each of these groups to a separate bank.? When I want to listen to the local public service traffic, I set the FT-60 on Bank 5 and start scanning.? When I want to work AO-91, go to Bank 7, etc., etc. As a scanner it works fine -- audio is a bit low if I'm using it in a big room or noisy area. |
FT-60 batteries
I have three batteries, all genuine Yaesu FNB-83, 7.2 v 1400 mAh.? I charge them with a Yaesu CD-47 desktop charger.
When I turn on my FT-60, the display shows the battery voltage then goes to the frequency display. One of the FNB83 batteries shows 8.2 volts on the display.?? This one lasts for 3-4 days before recharging. The other two batteries show 7.2 volts on the display and last one day, almost two days at best.? One of them often doesn't even make it through the day -- most of my operation is listening. Any idea why the differences? Thanks, Joe W4HH |

Thanks for the referral.? I've got the feeling that everything on Yahoo is beginning to go south.? There is no way to easily express your needs and the news content, in particular, is filled with ads and multipage news stories. Nolan - KI5IO
Fred,
Dr. Boehner messaged on the FT-60 Yahoo list (05-28-2018) that he was in the process of getting ready to move the group over here to Groups.io .. He said the e-mail announcement/advisory would be forthcoming and to be patient. There is only one or two of the 12+ groups I follow that are still on the Yahoo system. The Yahoo system has shaky legs and response time to admin items and even some posts is very bad anymore. Dunno how much support/effort Yahoo will continue to put into that Yahoo Groups element. 73 - Nolan K. KI5IO |

Re: Newbie Here In SoCal
开云体育Hi There, First congratulations on getting your FCC license, you are now entering a fun world of radio, electronics, public services and many other aspects of the amateur radio world. I wanted to point out a couple of things first: When you say “...guess I wasn't someone they knew so not worth talking to -but it's a start I guess” Well that should not be your first thought. Amateur Radio prides itself with the Elmering concept. The knowledgeable members mentor the newbies. It’s just that maybe you found a time period where nothing was going on. I bet you if you tune in during commute hours then you will find any activity level. Second look into the C.A.R.L.A. System. Check this??for details. I hope you enjoy your new hobby and that you will make ALL efforts to participate in Field Day. Check this??out for more details. And while you are at the ARRL site make sure you join your hobby’s organization. 73 Wassim WN6WJN |
