Same price at HRO now, too ... free shipping, also, to the contiguous 48.

G4FHQ software

The cable for my FT-60R arrived today. I fired up the computer and imported the stations that I entered for my FT-7900 into the FT-60R. In only a few minutes the FT-60 was fully programmed and ready to go.

That sure beats the heck out of manually entering over 100 stations.

One-page Programming Guide

New to the FT-60R? Well, you can wade through the 84-page user manual, or follow this one-page sheet for manually programming your FT-60R.

(*) -DISCLAIMER - Yes, I USED to work at HRO. Have I made a penny from HRO since leaving three years ago? Nope. Is there any "commercial incentive" for me to write this message tonight? Nope. Well, I might get a few more folks to join in one of my live "How to Manually Program your FT-60" GoToMeeting sessions - but that, alas, is an expenditure for me. SO ... If you're in the market for a solid 2M/440 HT, this is an incredible price for the next couple of days!

Re: Charging

So far, the best way I have found out of this whole mess is a light timer. I am using the "quick charging" cradle. For complete charge, turn the timer "on" to the bypass mode. Otherwise, I leave my FT-60R in the cradle, and have the light timer turn the charger on for about 15 minutes once a day.

Light timers are available in most hardware stores for around $10.00. I got the mechanical type.

Works great. Problem solved.

Re: Software from G4FTQ

Is there a similar memory management program for my FT-60 on a Mac notebook?

Assume you're referring to the FTB60 software by G4HFQ. If so, I use it and am very happy with it.

Bob's (G4HFQ)software is second to none and his customer support is fantastic. I also bought my cable from him. There was an issue with the cable when used with my FT-60R; the rubber shoulder of the plug prevented it from inserting fully into the radio. At Bob's direction, I shaved 1mm off the rubber shoulder and the issue was resolved. You won't regret purchasing his products.

G4FHQ software

I have just bought this and a cable from G4FHQ. It works 1st time and does what it says with good menus and prompts.
?
Just remember to ensure the cable is fully into the FT60 and not held out by the rubber socket protector!

G4FHQ software is my favourite for FT60. I did find a bug which I emailed to Bob, the same day he emailed back a patched version to test and report the result back to him. Who could ask for better service?

After trying all sorts of things at Rob's suggestion, I shipped it back this morning. Either I have a defective interface box or cables, or a defective radio. We shall see...
