OK, I'll box the radio up and have it ready to go, most likely via Priority Mail.? Since I had a couple people asking if the price was for 2 or 3 radios, I DO want to confirm that it is $120 for ONE FT-60 radio, shipped/insured.

Hi,

I have three of these radios (the FT-60 has long been my favorite HT).?
One is my "daily walker", I'm keeping it. The other two are back-ups I
bought so that if one failed or I lost it, I'd always have another.

Decided that two back-ups are really a luxury I don't need right now and
want to sell one (and only one).? All 3 radios were bought in Dec 2020
(after wifey passed away I went bonkers and bought way more radio gear
than I needed).

The spares have lived their entire life in my "go box" and never been
used outside of charging, programming and an occasional test to make
sure they still work.? It will come with all factory accessories (drop
in charger, antenna etc) and the factory box. LIKE NEW.

Asking $120, includes shipping to the USA (Postal Money Order please, I
don't do PayPal).

Good morning Clint,

8, sheesh, I thought 3 were a lot. . .? The reason I got "extras" was because it is by far my favorite HT.? On a couple occasions in years past I bought one then swapped it off for another radio, always regretted it.? When it looked like they were deleting the line in 2020 I bought the "3 just to be safe" ;-) ?

Re: Making 3D printed battery case for FT-60R

I repacked one of my battery with Ikea 1900mA cells some time ago. It did split easily, just had to run a knife tip around the edge just above where the rubber seal sits. The Ikea cells are a tiny bit longer but that did not cause any issues. The repacked pack charges fine in SBH13 desktop charger. It takes just above 5 hours to charge a completely discharged pack.

Re: Making 3D printed battery case for FT-60R

Andrew, how did you get yours repacked? Is there a service you used that you can share? I'm hesitant to open up a worn out pack.

Re: Making 3D printed battery case for FT-60R

I use a Maha charger that charges individual cells. They are, indeed, lasting sarned near twice as long (2500mAH Maha Aa cells versus 1400 mAH stock NiMh pack.

What is the average life that you are getting with the NiMH batteries in the tray?

Re: Smart search feature question

I’m not. I carry a Garmin Inreach Mini with me also. But my ht comes with me all the time especially to monitor under the Wilderness Protocol. But Mainly just trying to use, understand and utilize the features of the radio. If I can’t get it to work in my favor it is what it is. I do the same with my VX6R and Ft3D. Just playing and and understanding certain features of the radio

Re: Smart search feature question

One should not depend upon ham radio on "backcountry" situations. Consider pirchasing/renting a satellite phone if you need comms.

Re: Smart search feature question

I’m looking into the possible benefit of the Smart Search feature when your out the backcountry or in an area where you don’t have cell service or limited cell service. I know for the most part we do our research before going to a new area but that doesn’t always work. Just a. Good tool to have if you can work out the bugs. And figure it out at home lol

Remember, if you are looking for the transmit tone, you have to be monitoring the Input of the repeater, not the output.?

You can also do a search for the repeater you are listening to and probably can find the info online.?

I’m not sure on that. If you don’t save it, and leave the frequency, you will lose the tone and have to enter it again.?

I noticed the rubber cover on the mic and power plugs is broken. Do you want to replace that? It’s really cheap I think less than a dollar from Yaesu for the replacement part itself.
