I had a Pontiac Vibe and I Fabricated a bracket that screwed on the main body of the vehicle under the edge of the back Hatch, much the same as the Hood ?bracket that goes under the edge of the hood. Removal required that just screw off the antenna from the mount and put in vehicle. Presently on my Mazda 3 , I have two brackets along side the truck lid made out of Stainless Steel, one holds my dual band antenna, the other hold a ATAS 120 Screwdriver antenna. And I have made 3 trips to California & Arizona from Alberta and return with out a problem, I removed both antenna every night and put in back seat then reinstalled in Morning before leaving. If you need I can take some pictures of the mounts. As well I left them on ?when putting vehicle in my garage and it ?has a 8 Foot ceiling. It just take some Planning.?

I would normally agree, I would put any antenna on the trunk lip, however, this is a mini van, so for two reasons, I have to use the engine compartment.

1. A minivan has no trunk.

2. When using an automatic car ? wash, you have to take the antenna off.

3. When taking the minivan in for repair work, antenna has to come off before it goes up on lift.

So there for, y'all have to have ease of getting to the antenna!

in My opinion I would install the antenna as far away from the engine compartment and computer as possible. I have always installed any radios antenna ?that I want to use while driving as from away as possible as I have seen vehicle be eected ?when the radio was keyed the RF would cause issue.

Again just my Opinion?
