FR-101D with LED display?
I recently bought this FR-101D with LED display. It was very dirty inside and outside but with all filters, FM unit and a 2 meter converter. Last weeks I cleaned it thoroughly and everything seems to work but it needs some realignment and the top cover can use some new paint.? But how rare are these? I only find pictures and info of the D versions with the green nixie tubes. I can't find any schematic or manual about this LED version and it's all original Yaesu! Who has more info?

开云体育The red LED’S came out in the last runs of the FR-101 digital display models. ? 73 Roger VE7LB ? From: Yaesu-FT-101@groups.io <Yaesu-FT-101@groups.io> On Behalf Of PA3DAF

Hello Erwin,
I have an FR-101D, together with the matching hybrid transmitter, the FL-101.
My FR-101D has the green display. I have the original manual for it. I bought the pair together with the FL-2000B at an estate sale. The transmitter and the receiver didn't work initially, but after thorough cleaning from accumulated dirt inside and applying contact cleaner to all the switches, potentiometers, and internal connectors, the set works great. I use the setup dedicated to a regional AM net on 80 meters, and I get compliments on the audio quality.
I can scan my manual and make a PDF file I'll be happy to share with you.

开云体育Erwin,I have one of these FR-101’s with the LED’s as well. I have never been able to find any documentation on the LED version either other than verifying these were part of the last production run of the FR-101.? If you do happen to find any additional info on yours, please share with the group. I think these were quite rare. Yours is the only other one I’m aware of.? I also have several FR-101’s with the more common green VFD tubes. Great receiver, (I have mine paired with the matching FL-101). Tom / W7OA On Jan 11, 2024, at 10:35, PA3DAF <PA3DAF@...> wrote:

开云体育Erwin, ? Thank you so much for the schematic for the PB-1827 LED version. I have one of these LED receivers as well as several of the more common VFD versions and have never been able to find any documentation for the later LED version. I don’t think Yaesu made many of these before production? ended. ? Tom / W7OA ? From: Yaesu-FT-101@groups.io <Yaesu-FT-101@groups.io> On Behalf Of PA3DAF

Resurrecting an older thread, but with pertinent info for FR-101 owners:
?
I recently bought an FR-101D (S/N 8H210225) from the auction site as a restoration project. The receiver has red LEDs in the display. Some years ago I'd gotten a late model display unit and bezel from a parts seller with the aim to convert my FR-101S to a D but this one just happened along.
?
After cleaning and inspection I powered it up to check out the display. Bear in mind that a number of standard range crystals had been swapped for others of various coverage segments so I had no idea what to expect from the display. On most ranges it's reading 500KHz low. I'm assuming this has to do with a range selection line (0/+500) so that's to be investigated. I wanted to make sure someone hadn't fooled with the VFO so I swapped my other red display unit in.
?
With that one...15 and 20M track correctly. The others...either show "96.000.0", "4.000.0", "1.000.0" or are 500KHz low. Next step was to physically examine the counter boards and check for evidence of funny business. What I found are two distinctly different PCBs. I'm not sure how either compare to the schematic posted earlier in thread but comparison and analysis is the next step. Then diagnosis and repair.
?
The original counter has S/N 210142 affixed and the spare, 200350. I took pics of both sides of the boards as well as a rear shot with the S/N tags. Will upload them if anyone's interested, and update this thread with comparisons from the schematics.
