Re: FRG 7 Switch supply
I'm curious about the design the 3D printer is using. I have designed spare parts for my FRG-7's and made the files are publicly available (for non-commercial usage).? ?

Re: Issue with 1MHz not locking

My lock light would not light up when I ran the FRG 7 on internal batteries.? Member feedback suggested I had to adjust VR102 until the lock light would then come on for each band.? Maybe that will work for you too.

Hi all,
My recently restored FRG-7 has developed a slightly annoying problem.? When cold, the 0, 1 & 2 MHz bands won't light up the 'lock' LED.? After some time warming up, the 0 & 2 MHz bands will lock, but the 1 MHz band never does.? However, at all times, if I centre each MHz selection, the receiver works quite OK on all those bands, receiving signals just fine. When going through the restoration, I replaced most capacitors - electrolytic, mylar / greencap / polyester - but not any of the disc ceramics.? Q102, 103 & 105 were replaced, too, but that shouldn't have any bearing on the lock LED lighting on some bands and not others.? I realigned the FRG-7 back about 6 months ago, and all was fine then. The problem is likely to be either with the comb generator Q301 / D301 / D302 not producing enough level down around 3-5 MHz, or the 1st oscillator Q201 not producing enough level down around 55-57 MHz, or perhaps an issue with the mixer Q106. Maybe VR102 is simply just set too fine?? Before I go ripping into the radio and checking levels from the 1st osc or comb generator, has anyone else experienced this issue, and recall what the cause was? Thanks, Jason |

Re: What mod it this?
Kees Taverne
No Mike, there is not. A previous owner took out Q411 and some other components. There is more 'done' in de receiver. I will start to investigate and perhaps I rebuild with original parts or replacements. What mod it this?
Kees Taverne
Hi all, I obtained a FRG-7 which is in working condition but needs still a lot of attention.
An extra PCB is added and I really do not know which mod this is. I hope you can help me! There is also a lose red wire which could be connected but.....first I would like to know what mod this is so I can find more detailed information and connect it the way it should be connected. They also modified the power with a 7812 and....cut of the external 12V cabling. Cleaning rotary swithes needs to be done and.... Does anyone recognizes this? best 73' s Kees PA1CJT |

开云体育Thanks for the reply, Lex.? The knobs on my FRG-7 are all fine but that power switch is going to go.? I can wait until you can get the complete switch done.73, Greg KD7SRC On 2/24/2022 10:40 PM, Lex PH2LB wrote:

Re: A 3D printed FRG-7 light and power switch knob
Hello Greg, I don't have any complete switches yet (the FRG-7 for parts I got, didn't have the switchs anymore), but can send you a set of knobs when you want (still have your postal adres laying around).? I will contact you in a private message.? ? 73 Lex PH2LB? |

开云体育Lex,Whenever you are ready to sell one of the red power switches let me know.? The one on my FRG-7 still works but is very loose. I sense that it is getting close to breaking. Greg Storms KD7SRC On 2/23/2022 1:22 PM, Lex PH2LB wrote:

Re: A 3D printed FRG-7 light and power switch knob
I got my self a rol of red PLA (it's a little bit lighter then the red color of the original knob, but it will do) and printed me a few power switch knobs.?
?
The light switch knob is also a little lighter because the darker grey I have is almost the same color as the front panel.
For who is interested, I have added this story (and more) to my website :?? 73 Lex PH2LB? |
