FTDX10 and FTM400
I don't know about these radio's but anytime you have a transmitter going you don't want any other radios hooked up to the same antenna (with a couple of exceptions) . Also your receiver on a close frequency on another antenna would not be good.? The amount of power trnsmitted getting into a receiver burning out the front end by too much voltage being produced. 73....wb9qqa

Good morning, I have a FTDX 10 and FTM400. Is it ok to have both radios on at the same time? ?Then with both radios on, will transmitting on one damage the other? Thank you, Brian K0BWH, 73 |

As long as they are using different antennas and the transmitter of one radio is not on the same frequency as the other radio in receive, should be no problem.? Art Gribensk On Mon, Dec 26, 2022, 21:32 KF0EVE. Brian via <brianhowe14=[email protected]> wrote: Good morning, |
开云体育Thank you for your quick reply. The DX10 is on a 35’ end fed and the other is a diamond 50X antenna. They are both in my attic.?On Dec 27, 2022, at 3:52 AM, randy berger via groups.io <rpb672003@...> wrote:

They are both in my attic. You're asking for trouble with the two antennas so close in proximity to one another if you don't take some action to isolate them or otherwise protect the radio not transmitting. If you have a coaxial switch that shorts the antenna terminals of the radio(s) not in use, you may get away with this. If you're using an inexpensive coaxial switch, how well it works in this case will depend on how well the switch isolates the unused terminals from the active one. On" As using the same power supply? I would expect you are using separate antennas since one is a VHF/UHF and the other an HF rig.... I have had my FTM400 turned on alongside an Icom HF rig without issue, transmit with either and not impact the other...they share an Astron 50 amp linear power supply. Is this what you're asking? I missed that these are on completely different bands, but I would still be concerned about overloading the input of the unused radio, even when the frequencies are so far apart. Thank you all for your replies. I think my safest bet is to have one radio completely shutdown while using the other

Follow the previous advice and protect your radios by shutting the one currently not being used for transmitting off. On Tue, Dec 27, 2022, 8:52 AM KF0EVE.
