Hi i have a ft-707 with a badly repaired avr board,it had a pnp 220 style transistor in place of the +8v regulator and Q01 npn transistor was dead,i have fitted a new regulator and transistor but wonder what blew it up in the first place,is the avr board a weak area on these radios?,i dont know the story as i brought it like this non working. 73 m3vuv.

just an update on this,after repairing the avr board it blew the npn power transistor (twice),traced to a short on the 13.5v tx rail,it was a shorted tant on the pa,got that fixed then no display counter,it just read rubbish,this was one pin of jo6 rf pcb having a busted track,so far have good rx issues to fix on lsb tx as carrier suppression is rubbish,almost have a working radio now,got a few grey hairs doing it tho!,73 m3vuv.
