YD9401 and Mac

Edited

A few questions I need answers to please, especially if I want to run the YaMoRC Command Station system with a Mac.

Unlike Windows, I cannot see the image of the Command Station (with which I can easily interface) on my desktop on a Mac.

First, does the YD9401work with a Mac?
What Apple OS is minimally needed?
If it does work, do I connect the YD9401 via USB or an ethernet (S88) cable?

Third, will the YD9401 work with the new Mac silicon chips, versions M1 and M2?
Do I connect the YD9401 via USB or ethernet (S88) cable?

Thanks, Don

The YD9401 is part of the YD7001 command station and it isn’t something you address or use directly.

?

If you want to use the management tool – which gives you the image of the YD7001 – then you need to use a Windows PC.

Thanks Iain:? it may be my faint hope clause to learn how to use (and connect) the YD9401 on a Mac.? If not, I'll have to look elsewhere to run my layout.

I assume you mean connect the YD7001 to the Mac – you cannot connect the YD9401 to anything.

?

If you are wedded to using a Mac then you can use Parallels, or similar solutions to run a Windows VM on the Mac within which you can run the YD7001 software and connect via USB or LAN.

I don't know if / whether you physically can install the YD9401 in your Mac...

?

Just for your info, this:

?

... is a YD9401.

?

Cheers,

Karst

Good joke Karst, alas I was not asking to install the actual chip into a Mac, just how to connect to the revised DR5000 Command Station that has that YD9401 chip installed...? How do I connect the Command Station (CS) and what cable must I use, and how do I see that I am connected on the Mac M2 screen?

I refer you to my last response – a DR5000 becomes a YD7001 once you have installed the YD9401 ?

Iain: I had forgotten the naming culture once the YD9401 was installed on a DR5000. I was afraid Windows may come into play, but I had hoped just staying within the Mac environment would save me a lot of grief having to install Windows on a partitioned drive.

Sorry Don, but I don't quite get it.

?

==> You have a DR5000 installed, You are using a Mac.. So you have the DR5000 Software visible and running.

==> Then installing the YD7001 is absolutely not even 0.1% different. In other words: If DR5000 stuff runs, YD7001 stuff will also run...

?

Greets, and yes my previous post was meant to be a joke ;)

Thanks Karst, I sure hope it is a stable, and compliant, way of running the new and improved DR5000.? I may not have had the programming downloaded on this Mac M2 yet...? I'll try and see what does happen,?

Does the Mac M2 run Windows programs??

If it does then great, if not you need Parallels or dual boot.

Many Thanks

Iain Morrison

I went to try the download, it failed because the .exe file is not readable by Mac (error code text:?You can’t open the application “YD_Config-build-59.exe” because Microsoft Windows applications are not supported on macOS.)
