DR5013 question

I’m new at all this and I’m setting up a small N scale layout. ?I have a DR 5000 and will be installing a reversing module, DR 5013. ?In the manual of the 5013 it talks about the rail gaps in the loop but it doesn’t indicate what length the sections need to be. It appears the S0 and S3 are larger than S1 and S2, but still no indication on what length the track section needs to be. I’m thinking maybe 6 inches for S0 and S3 and 3 inches for sections S1 and S2. What are the plus and minus in making these either shorter or longer? ?Also I have some turnouts within the loop indicated by track in the manual. Does this affect anything?

Thanks for any comments you all might have.?

Ron,

The S0, S1, S1 & S3 only needs to be about as long as an engine.? Basically just long enough to trigger the sensor.??

The loop itself (the blue track) needs to be just longer than your longest train that would be in the loop.

Here is a video I did explaining the setup:

Thanks Ryan, that helps. How about having I switch / turn out within the loop, the blue track. Do I need to have any concerns with that?

Ron

Ron,

You are welcome.

As long as the track coming off the turnout doesn't end up connecting to another part of the non-reversing section you will be fine.

Great. Thanks for your help.?
