DR4018 set address to something OTHER THAN 9999

I have (3) DR4018 working fine controlling 16 LEDs. Is it possible to change the DCC address to something other than 9999 using CV1? I'd like to configure CVs on the fly via a JMRI script without having to go into program mode. It seems if I change CV1 to an used loco address then I could do this but when I write to CV1 is doesn't change.?

Can you explain the "CV's on the fly in a script in JMRI"?
What do you want to change?

My signals are controlled from a custom program script written in Jython language which works seamlessly with JMRI. I'd like to be able to change the cvs in the dr4018 without having to manually press the program button because sometimes I want a signal to be solid and other times I want it to flash based on layout conditions.

I suppose the only way to change cvs is to press the button and use Address 9999? Or can the cvs be changed without pressing the button if 9999 is changed to an used loco address?

You will always need to press the programming button on the DR4018 because that is what enables writing of the CVs to that address - it doesn’t matter if you change the unit address, you will always need to press the button.

Many Thanks

Ok, got it, thanks for the quick replies!

You can have flashing and solid aspects if you use one of the signal configurations, but that will limit you to four signal heads per DR4018, I use NMBS as that gives me the aspects I use for US signals.
