[Digikeijs], JMRI, Rocrail, Itrain, Walthers, Tortise, Cobalt,Switch Machine, Roco, Throttle JMRI and DR4024 turnout status

Ian,? yes you are correct.? If you need physical feedback from the turnout (to prove it actually moved), you would need a micro switch or something attached to the turnout that can trigger a sensor.? Otherwise just the basic direct setup will work and display turnout status in JMRI.

Ryan, I don’t think that the 4024 is actually providing feedback, it only reacts to the command sent and JMRI is inlyvchnaging only chaging the status based on the command sent to change the servo, there isn’t any actual feedback.

if the command is sent to the DR4024 then JMRI will show the point as thrown even there isn’t one there :)

Thanks for clarifying things. I thought I'd read somewhere that some servo controllers (I think it was ESU's) do provide feedback without additional microswitches and I was wondering whether the DR4024 had a similar capability but you've confirmed it doesn't.

Out of interest, do you have any advice for ensuring physical turnout status and JMRI's perceived turnout status are synchronised when a layout is powered up? Would a JMRI start-up script that moves every turnout to, say, its 'closed' position achieve that?
