Best wiring option for DR5013

开云体育

To use it in a wye the most common way is to make a DR5013 controlled reverse section in one of the legs between the 3 turnouts which needs to be long enough to hold a complete train. The other option is to make everything coming from one of the turnouts, including the turnout all part of the DR5013 fed track. This is ideal when going to a dead end branch – you would run the entire branch through the DR5013.

Hopefully makes sense, difficult to make drawings in a text document ?

Many Thanks

Hello. I need some help with wiring a reverse loop. I’m running DR5000,2 x DR5033 boosters and DR5013. Now the reverse loop is a triangle not as described in the instructions. Would it be best to simply use the DR5013 as a reverse loop module(as I am currently), or with two sensors. Am I right that this arrangement avoids the short when the loco crosses to the reverse loop track? Then I am confused about how to set it up correctly on the DR5013. The DR5013 becomes the feedback module but despite reading the instructions countless times I still need some guidance.

thanks

Dave

thanks for responding- I’ve learned a great deal over the last few weeks. The reverse loop was causing all sorts of issues but in the end the major part was the amount of track that I made part of the loop - so in the end I have just one flank of the triangle. However more importantly I think it was the auto reverse polarity on the boosters - I think in effect I ended up with the DR5013 racing the DR 5033’s to switch polarity! As soon as I disabled the reverse polarity on the boosters things improved no end. Now by using the full capability of the dr5013 it all runs like a dream - you no longer get that momentary short when the loco hits start or end of the reverse loop.
for what it’s worth the other thing I learned was I had one point with a cobalt on in the reverse loop area. I had to rewire this so the switch was used for the frog polarity and the accessory was fed from a bus outside the reverse loop.

hope all that makes some sense- so I’m a happy camper it works fantastically now!! Even got the Z21 app to show the sections on the track plan.

Dave,

Glad to hear you got it going!

Yes, it is important to turn off the Auto Reversing in the DR5033 unless you actually need it.? And if you do need it, make sure any adjoining power districts don't have an auto reverser.? They don't tend to play nice with each other when the loco crosses the gaps.??

Enjoy!

Ryan?

I had two boosters and the DR5013! No wonder I was pulling my hair out! Out of interest why do they ship them with auto reverse switched on I wonder. If I’d realised earlier I’d have saved a lot of pain!?

Thanks

Dave,

I agree, they should ship with the Auto Reverse off.? I have put in a support ticket to see if we can get this changed.

IMHO there are quite a few options that should be set differently on the DR5033 to make it more user friendly ‘out of the box’ - you may recall the issues about trying to stop it forwarding information to the command station and something else which I forget now :(
