DR4088 GND Feedback Wiring Clarification

I have purchased some of these for sensor feedback (it's a two rail DCC layout) but just wanted to confirm my understanding of this diagram.
In this example.
  • Are left side connections just a switched loop from the left common (i.e. no external power source)?
  • The right side common is from 'Track Out Central'.? I assume Track Out Central is the DR5000 track output?
  • The right side inputs include a reed switch. I assume this means any switch can be used in such a configuration?
  • I notice the right side has connections to the track, is this current detection? If so can the unit be used for current detection in 2 rail DCC at all?

This is just an example of what you can use.

Input pins 1-8 use the Left GND connection as common as shown.
Inputs pins 9-16 use the Right GND. as shown

Just make sure your devices you are connecting do not output a signal or voltage. These are contacts to GND. (Yellow Line)

No it cannot !!?

?

-GND units, including the YaMoRC versions, should NOT !! be used on 2-rail to do any detection connected to the track !!

For current detection use the -CS variants.

?

Still using -GND as you ask for, will result in one, big CURRENT ==> Shortcircuit-Current, which will destroy the Feedbackmodule, Command Station or both !!

In other DR4088 types, the two common inputs are independent and thus so are the two input sides (if I understand correctly)?

In the examples shown, Pins 1 to 8 would therefore have no connection to any external current source, 9-16 could be configured the same way?

I understand only the OPTO is intended to be used with sensors switching an external powered circuit. That has me wondering how can Pins 9-16 not cause issues as shown in this diagram. If the Yellow line is GND and the DR5000 has no GND output (as far as I can tell), then are the Red and Yellow feed from some other command station or controller?

BTW my intention is to connect it to relay outputs and turnout motor feedback switches? (i.e. closing the loop to the unit). I'm just curious about how the 'Track Out' detection examples (right side) work.
