Re: Resistor for block detection, best size?

开云体育

You will see that the block detection (i.e. when current is drawn) appears slightly before the Railcom ID is displayed. This is because it is faster being almost the instant a loco enter the block. The Railcom ID is then obtained from the loco and sent via Loconet to the command station. It is a sequential process and will always be sequential.

?

The current is drawn by the decoder, even if the loco is stationary, and without a decoder you cannot get a Railcom ID.

So let me ask a dumb question, as I’ve only set up sample blocks with DR5088RC and have seen the RC ids show up in my blocks but don’t actually detect any current.

?

The question:

Why do I care about he occupancy current? ?If the RC id is showing its obviously in the block. ?It won’t show an id for the block if it’s not in the block. ?I get the technical difference, but functionally, it is detecting occupancy. ?Because, as I said, the existence of the id shows its occupying the block.

My question is one of understanding as my current “layout” is a simple oval to test my software as I get set back up in our new home over time and start a bigger and more complicated test layout and then a “real layout” to keep me going until I die :)

Re: upgraded DR5000 to YD7001 throttle issue

Yes, YaMoRC's karst.drenth posted in the thread.
?

Thanks for the thread, it appears there was no resolution to the issue. I figured quickly that after acquiring the locomotive I was able to use the 602D wirelessly for control. Seems like a conflict somewhere in a hidden piece of code. Do you know if YaMoRC is aware of the issue??

Re: Programmer Busy reading CVs with Ops mode over Railcom with YD9401

I tried 2, 3 and 4. With 4 I get some (fewer) Programmer busy messages. With 2 and 3, I don't get Programmer busy, but I do see pauses., fewer with 2 than 3. It seems that 3 is the best setting for this. I'm doing all this with a mostly idle railroad, so the only messages are occaisonal "occupied" messages -- no throttles active. Overall, looks like a definint improvement.

Thread exception attempting to run YD9401

Shortly after I open the app, I get this exception:
?

This is on Windows 11. All attempts to r]use the app result in a "click" and no response. When I click on "OK", the app closes. The same result if I run the app with no connection to the command station (other than network). I have successfully run it on a Windows 10 system though.

Nope, that is not unclear ;) As of LocoNet specs, RailSync ( which drives the boosters ) must be a carbon-copy of what the commandstation sends to the track. And so it is done by our command stations, no matter which type :)

Lower this setting: (POM packet repeat count)

... until it completely stops reading. My experience is that 2 or 3 are a good value.

Unfortunately JMRI does not handle "Busy" with a retry of the same CV. As that should be the correct response to "Busy"

Scott,

?

There are many factors that can impact the speed of reading when using PoM, amongst them being how busy the track is i.e. how many other locos are present, with special consideration as to how many are running. The make of decoders also has an effect as some report faster than others, and I have seen the weight and quality of wiring used affect the reporting on layouts.

?

I know that the first and second can impact the reliability because using iTrain to read all CVs using PoM can occasionally cause a CV or two to fail to read if there are a large number of trains running, and stopping everything will result in all CVs being read in a couple of seconds with 100% success. I also notice that the 2 x TCS decoders have more failures in reading than Zimo decoders.

Subject: Programmer Busy reading CVs with Ops mode over Railcom with YD9401

?

I have a DR5000 which has been upgraded to a YD9401. When I use DecoderPro with Programming on Main to read Read All Cvs, I get many "Programmer Busy" responses. The LocoNet log shows that the Write was rejected and then DecoderPro moves on to the next CV. The result is a delay and then a retry (with the next CV) which is soon accepted. So the overall process takes longer than it should, and several CV's are left in "Error" status and I need to click on "Read Changes on page" to to resolve them (serveral times, until all have been read).?

?

Does anyone know if there is a way to resolve this?

?

The environment is:

?

YD9401 with three boosters, 2 DR5088RC RailCom readers, LocoBufferUSB, JMRI Decoder Pro 5.11 with Java 11 on Windows 11.

?

If this could be resolved, then this method of reading all CV's would be the (almost) fastest method, with only LokProgrammer being faster.

Re: upgraded DR5000 to YD7001 throttle issue

I think this is the same as previously discussed. A search in this forum for DT602D found this thread:
?
I don't think the DR5000 was mentioned though.
?
This won't help at all, but if you plug in to acquire, you can go wireless to control the loco. I learned that later.

Jay,

?

Just select the Loco PoM or Accessory PoM radio button on the YD7001 programming interface, enter the address for the device, the CV number and then the value.

?

You will need to try both as some people set them as accessory decoder devices (the correct way), but some will make them act like loco decoders ?

Hi

?

We will shortly have 6 circuit breakers installed on our club layout.? I am giving each of them a unique accessory address before they are installed.

?

I am trying to determine if the YD7001 can be used for changing CVs on the circuit breakers - the circuit breakers support Programming on the Main / Ops Mode Programming.? If it will, does anyone have experience with the steps to achieve this ?

?

If we cannot do this through interfaces on the YD7001, does anyone know if this can be done using JMRI connected to the YD7001 ?? I have found instructions on the 开云体育 JMRI group for how to do this, but it is unclear if the YD7001 will send the commands out on LocoNet to the DR5033 boosters.

Thank you for any help you can provide.

Re: Resistor for block detection, best size?

Whist iTrain can calculate the train length placing resisting axles at the back of trains lets iTrain see the back of the train - especially useful for reversing or if you lose part of the train because it will keep the block(s) occupied until you ‘find’ the back of the train again.

Re: Resistor for block detection, best size?

The resistor axles have no impact upon Railcom and simply provide occupancy for the wagon.

FYI Railcom has nothing to do with occupancy, it is simply reporting the details from the decoder. The actual occupation comes from the current draw by the locomotive (or wagon).

upgraded DR5000 to YD7001 throttle issue

I recently upgraded my DR5000 to a YD7001. Everything went according to plan and I now have WIFI working. I use Digitrax DT602D throttles and a Digitrax UR93 radio. The problem is that I now have to plug in to aquire or MU a loco. It is not working via the radio as it did with the DR5000. Has anyone else had this issue and if so, did you resolve it and how?? ? Thank you in advance for any help.

Don't discount hot glue ht glue. It's super easy & I use it everywhere with success.?

I use the small zip tie mounts that I screw to the bottom of the baseboards and then use zip ties to hold them up. The mounts come with sticky tape but I use the screw hole. Mike?
