Might it be useful to have a conversation about how to do both? What might be effective ways to leverage DEI curriculum in support of Jewish inclusivity and equity??

RE: Israeli Couscous Salad

?

Dear Professor Kaplan,

?

Earlier today we received a similar inquiry from one of our students and we provided the below response on behalf of Yale Hospitality:

?

To provide context and clarity, I will share some background on our process. In July, we began the ongoing process of reviewing and planning our new menus. Authenticity of the food and naming of the recipes have been a concern brought to us by students in the past. There were times that they felt our food did not “authentically” represent the country or ethnicity referenced in the name. To that end, our team made the decision to remove names of countries and ethnicities from recipes. However, you have raised a point that merits further consideration. In this case, Israeli Couscous is indeed an actual ingredient and is explicitly listed on the ingredient list. Considering it is the main ingredient, it is appropriate to remain in the title, and we will correct this oversight.

?

On behalf of my team and Yale Hospitality, I would like to assure you that the principles of diversity, inclusion, equity, and belonging are values that we are and continue to be committed to.

?

Thank you once again for bringing this matter to our attention.

?

IDF spokesman's film from October 7th

A proposal was made by the Ministry of Defense in Israel to screen the IDF spokesman's film (from October 7th) at the universities in the USA. Is it feasible at Yale? Can we make it happen?
Of course, it is intended more for the university faculty and less for the students.?

Let me know what you though are
