YC1 League Update
2
We now have a full league other than a manager for the Chicago Cubs. I will have one for them soon. 1. Rule change changes/additions are due by Thursday night, 10/31. 2. If anyone has not been able to get on the StratDraft site with their credentials, please let me know so I can resolve the issue. 3. Since we are on StratDraft now, I am going to add a tab on the Spreadsheet called 'CALENDAR' with all important dates. 4. I have the draft scheduled to start on 3/1. We will progress slowly through the first two rounds then speed it up a bit as usual. 5. Regarding the list I published last week for '2024 MLB Rookies', this list includes ALL MLB ROOKIES according to MLB, not just the ones available for you to claim. Some of these players are already on some of our rosters. 6. Feel free to send me any rookie protects and IR Roster players. I will update the spreadsheet accordingly. 7. I'm not going to keep track of late CM's this year, late results, or auto-played games. If the games aren't completed by the deadlines, and there was no request for an extension, they will be auto-played. 8. Looking for your opinion on using a Google Spreadsheet for our league. I used this last season in two of my leagues. Once I set it up, I send invites to it, similar to this IO Group. Once you have the link to it, save it, and you will have access to the league file on a live basis, as it's updated. It eliminates constant sending out and downloading of the spreadsheet, and the data is always up to date. I also used this last year to show current YTD stats for all MLB players, the same way Flory did. It is also accessible from your cell phone as well. Please let me know your thoughts about this. Looking forward to another exciting season in 2025. Ken

Switching over to StratDraft
9
Regarding this move, it was not a decision I took lightly. Mr. Flory has been unresponsive to requests for help for weeks now. I don't know if he is okay or not, or just has an attitude (which is normal for him), but in either case, we were not getting the support we needed. This site was going away very soon, as Nick himself has admitted, and I inquired about buying it from him and he was not interested in selling it. It was time to make the move. I am trying to build the best league I can without the help of that site. Some managers in the leagues I run have dropped out or are considering dropping out because they either don't care for SD, or they are loyal to the Flory site. I'm trying to manage these leagues and find replacement managers where necessary. If you are strongly considering leaving the league because of this, PLEASE LET ME KNOW TODAY. I don't want to find out a little at a time and continuously have to post league openings. This is what you can expect for this coming season and beyond. SD provides current YTD MLB stats for your team (same as Flory) at the bottom of the 'View Competition' option. You can look at all the teams in the league this way. We are using IO Groups for league communications, which arguably is better than what we had with Flory because you can always go back and view past messages in one common place. We are using Google Sheets instead of an Excel spreadsheet now. This allows you access to it at any time with current up to date information and is accessible through your cell phone as well. No downloading required. I am also providing YTD MLB stats on this sheet as well for all MLB players. I am putting as much info on this sheet as possible, so it's one-stop shopping. If you have any suggestions, I'll gladly listen. If you are not sure you want to come back, please reply here, or email me privately at deerparkmets@.... If you are happy and staying in the league, you don't need to respond. Thanks, Ken

SOM Range Ratings
All, SOM has released their annual Range Ratings. They had the Sneak Preview the last two days on X (Twitter). I'm attaching the file here. I must say, I am pretty happy with the accuracy of my projections in my first year doing them in comparison to LBB's results, especially considering they have been doing them about two decades now. Take a look yourself. I will be looking at what I can tweak to make them even more accurate next year. This should help quite a bit with border line cuts. Ken

Update
The following is an update on the future of the Flory site. Although we chose not to use it this year, a know a lot of you are still in leagues that use it and may not have received his latest update. Here it is (edited for spelling errors). Key comments have been boldfaced. Sounds like we made the right choice. Promised something soon, here it is. The Flory.net SOM baseball league sites will scale back in 2025. All full serve leagues will be allowed to end their current seasons with full service. After that, they will be self-serve. As long as the site is up, self-serve leagues can continue as they wish. There is one bug I need to fix that was not advancing leagues to their next season, basically, repeating a season. If you need move your season forward, let me know and I will take care of it. My plan is to, after the Super Bowl in 2025 (I have a football pool on the site), start bringing the code on the pool up to the current level of code so as to reduce the cost to me for the service. There are only about 20 programs there to be upgraded as opposed to a few hundred in the baseball site, that won't happen. There will be periods where the baseball site will act strange (unknown what that means) as I work on the pool programs. I will try to announce those times on the site when they happen. After I get the pool programs upgraded, it probably means the end of the baseball site. Will have to wait on that. in my current state, it's the best I can do. Got even worse when I came down with covid for the 2nd time. Ugh! And once again, I know there are many well-wishers amongst you, and the sentiments are always appreciated. But please don't send any replies to this email regarding my health and well-being. Reading emails can be difficult with my vision. nick flory

Update
I have added a ROSTERS tab on the Google Sheet showing everyone's rosters, stats, and total IP and PA (including our factor). StratDraft will always take precedence over the Google Sheet as far as roster accuracy. If you see any problems with your roster on Google, please let me know and I'll fix it.

YC1 Marco Luciano eligible for injured reserve available for a draft pick
I will trade him to whomever offers the best draft pick by tomorrow night, assuming I get at least one offer. For the past five years he has consistently been one of Baseball America's top 60 prospects. Larry YC1 Texas

Important Update
3
All, Just want to make some important points and remind everyone of upcoming deadlines. The first two are requests from me to you. PLEASE... 1) When sending me emails with questions or any type of league issue, PLEASE include which League and Team you are asking about. I'm flattered that some of think I can remember the exact league and team you manage, but I run seven leagues. Trust me, I cannot remember. 2) I am getting some emails in most of my leagues complaining about the volume of emails coming through. This was a common problem on the Flory site because there was a simple feature called 'Trading Block' which allowed a manager to send out emails as often as they liked to the entire league about what players they were interested in trading. Please respect your fellow managers and do not abuse the IO Group for this. Managers do not like getting the same emails over and over again. If this problem doesn't resolve itself, I will reluctantly put a rule in place to discourage this :( 3) I have been putting a ton of work into the Google Sheet. I am trying to standardize it across all my leagues. In addition to the ROSTER tab, which all leagues have now, I will be creating tabs for 'Batters in Draft' and 'Pitchers in Draft'. Some leagues already have this and the others I am still working on. These tabs will be updated as I record your cuts. My plan is to keep all current YTD stats updated on the ROSTER tab. This will ease some of the pain for those of you who loved that feature on Flory (I know I did). 4) STRATDRAFT takes precedence over the Google Roster tab as far any player discrepancy goes. Please check and make sure your team is correct. The Roster tab is only there for your convenience and to help you plan, manage, and monitor your team. 5) Once the deadline for player cuts or protected player lists has passed, there will be no further corrections to rosters in SD. What does this mean? If you have a player like Ohtani, Soto, etc., and they are not showing on your team, they will not be put on your team. There has to be a final date for corrections. Check your rosters sooner than later. UPCOMING DEADLINES 1) Final Roster Cutdown is 1/31. This is a little more than 6 weeks away. Please make your cuts on the StratDraft site. If you have any trouble doing this, refer to the SD Help tab on the Google sheet for instructions. Your player count is tracked on the Rosters tab with your team. Maximum protected players are 25. Also keep the rookie protects coming as well as your IR list. See the rules regarding the criteria for IR players. A rookie counts as part of the 25, IR players do not. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to everyone. Ken

League Resources
I have put the links to our Google Sheet in Strat Draft (SD), along with the help instructions I created for how to make cuts, trades, etc. These are two separate files that can found in SD under Front Office, League Office, League Files. Please do not email me asking for a link to the Google Sheet. I have given it out so many times already, and now it will be in SD as well.

Unlimited ABs for 600+ PA-are we using it?

Hi All (but particularly Ken)-just wanted to verify that we are or are not using that rule this year. I didn't see a copy of the current constitution on the SD site in the League Files section.

BIG Players available
After evaluating my team for this year (and wiping away the tears), I have decided to completely rebuild. The ONLY players not up for discussion are Caminero, Winn, and Burnes. Some of the players that could become part of your team are the following. Please don't ask me 'what will it take' - just make offers. That is the quickest way to get something done. At least make a starting offer and then we can talk. Shohei Ohtani - Yes, Ohtani, the best player in the game. It's going to take a huge offer to pry him away, but I'll trade him. Any ridiculous offer for him will be ignored Renaldo Lopez - 162 IP with a 1.99 ERA and .614 OPS for the worst team in baseball. Josh Hader - 85 IP with a .591 OPS - one of the top closers in MLB. Ken - TB
