The EPP is now discussing growth beyond the Bay Area, Santa Cruz and Sacramento. Encore physicians have an active California physician license. The program has been warmly embraced by retired physicians - largely, but not entirely, TPMG doctors – some of whom have been working since the inception of the program. To date, the Encore Physicians Program has placed 55 physicians and has 39 active physicians. Physicians are paid commensurate with other community health doctors and have malpractice insurance covered. Physicians report time and again a rekindled connection to caring for community patients without the stress of panel management and the daily in-basket burden. The program has placed retired primary care physicians and also specialists in OB/Gyn, Podiatry, Cardiology, Orthopedics, General Surgery, Neurology, and ENT. Dr Darell Brooks celebration of life
hello all I wanted to share with you the celebration of life for Darell . It was one of the most heartwarming and touching celebrations that I was grateful to attend (.If I can say that.) It was extraordinary that everyone who knew that man from 3 PICs ,surgery Chiefs,colleagues and support staff Ma's surgery schedulers ,even his patients were there to say beautiful things about him . He obviously was one of a kind ,not just as a great surgeon.(He was described as the Le Braon James of surgical artistry) but as a human being who took care of his patients and his unwavering support of his colleagues any time even when he was not on call . I felt sad that I did not get to know him as well as all who worked with him closely . It is a testament to the quality of our medical group which I find extremely heartening and something that is a source of pride for me . In the spirit of all of this I want to recognize you all my friends /colleagues for being the unsung heroes . I did not want to wait to have a celebration of life to say this to you. One thing that I found out that most people had no idea what Darell died from ,was some vague causes .Some knew. Which brought back to me the subject we discussed at our last meeting,caring for each other . I proposed to Meena and perhaps to our Ceo(in the future) that they can ask people if they can share information with colleagues if the person so desires ,so there is no HIPPA violation . This subject needs to be discussed among us and we can decide as to how want to proceed . Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow . Amir
