Re: Trinitite
Wow , that was worth looking at, I never would have expected that. Good scientific procedures. Now the question of where its coming from. Start with the chamber i.e get rid of it. we shouldn¡¯t need

Re: Getting the Wiki going
Thanks. If you want you could do this - make me a group monitor and I'll get it going. Then I'll see what kind of access permissions I need in order to maintain it and you can downgrade me to that

Re: Proportional Counters and Preamps
Thanks so much. Yes, as you probably noticed above, there is a link to the 142PC schematic. What's missing is the illusive identity of the Q1 FET and the Q11 BJT. What they actually are probably

Thanks for the info Geo. Also, Here is a block diagram for the Ortec 142PC. https://www.ortec-online.com/-/media/ametekortec/manuals/142pc-mnl.pdf That is a pretty good starting point. Next step is to

Re: Trinitite
Geo, The amount of Pu-240 in that era of devices was about 2.5% with Pu-241 of about 0.05%. If you look at the Green Top CdTe 86Ksec mca again the Pu 240 appears at 45.24 next to the Pu 239 at 51.62

Re: Proportional Counters and Preamps
Oops, It looks like it is actually the Ortec 142PC that is optimized for proportional counters. https://www.ortec-online.com/products/electronics/preamplifiers/142pc Same issue re a circuit diagram.

Re: Proportional Counters and Preamps
I know that proportional counters are/were used ad detectors for low energy XRF in the wavelength dispersive mode (i.e., using a crystal surface like an optical diffraction grating. Nice. Plain Ar

Discussion of Raman Spectroscopy moved to GeorgeDowell-XRF-NDT-LAB group
Since a discussion got started here on Raman and there might be some interest, I started a thread over at?GeorgeDowell-XRF-NDT-LAB for anyone who cares to join in. That way it won't clutter up the

"Rope Trick Effect" explained. Energy jets are directed into a beam by cables strung from the Trinity tower. These precede the actual fireball. There were at least two major aerial runs of power and
