X-Air-F 503

I have seen a variety of engines put on them overseas. See this response to an earlier thread -

?

Looks great, nice to see it restored. All you need now is a 912 engine, then it will leap in the air like an excited puppy :o)

?

I love my 912 X air F ... ?or Falcon as we call them in the UK.

I think the 912 might be a bit of overkill but it obviously still stays within the COG. That is a bit of weight you are adding to the airframe on the nose.....ie 65kg vs 48kg for a 582+gearbox????

This true I am located in Canada and our weather is as little different but the altitude is close?and we don't see 30deg weather very often as well as winter fliying below?0 deg C is a better way to fly so I hope if I am going to but the 582 on I?think ?it will be ok

.I would like to see if any one has tried different engine and how the worked, the info is very helpful and would like to hear everyone opinion on the use of alternate engine in the x-air-f.

I was going to use the 503 but with this thread I believe the least I should use is the 582.Thanks for all your reply's and now I have to decide If any have info about alternative?ideas please let me know Thanks

I live in India, and till a couple of years ago, used to fly on two X-Air with Jabiru 2200. I didn't have any issues with the engine, but others had had atleast one each of engine out landings on both of them.

In one instance, the aircraft was overhead, so could recover on the airfield comfortably. In the other instance, it happened during the climbout after take off, and the aircraft had to be put down in a field adjacent to the airport.? No damages to the airplane or pilots in either of the case.?

I seen in some other conversations some one mentioned about a couple of x-air's flying with Bmw conversions in Europe, anybody know any info on this. Thanks
