X Air Hanuman weight

Hello again,

My X Air Hanuman came in at about 640lbs.

I weighed it with: no fuel but oil in the crankcase, vertical speed indicator, air speed indicator, turning Bank coordinator, voltage and timer gauge, electronic instrument panel, Garmin navigation 296, standard handheld radio, small fire extinguisher, no wheel pants, Cincinnati Grand adjustable propeller, Garmin transponder, small first aid kit, fuel gauge, and that's about it. Does this seem heavy? I recall looking in the pilot operating handbook that it should come in at about 610 lb instead of 640 lb dry. What is everybody else's airplane weighing in at?

Re: Wheel alignment X-Air LS XA85 (H)

my mechanic was able to get most of it corrected by adjusting several bolts rather than bending anything.? It's still a little off, but much better.

Re: Wheel alignment X-Air LS XA85 (H)

Hi

Make sure that wheels are as close together as they can by using strap. Then put the bunge on.

Oh interesting - good thing you mentioned this!

Worst case when I remove them, I will start with one side only and count the times as I unwrap them.

Remove Bing carb for servicing on the X Air Hawk Hanuman

I'm trying my best to understand how to remove the 40mm Bing carburetor on my X Air Hanuman.

Does anyone know what parts to remove in order to access and completely disconnect the carb from the engine?

I hope I don't have to remove the engine to simply access the carb?

It looks like if I remove the exhaust muffler, I can then loosen the rubber boots from the carb to the intake assembly, and the perhaps try sliding the carb one way to wiggle it out from its location?

Any guidance and tips are greatly appreciated!

Any tips on how to reinstall with putting all the pushrods and screws and cables back together?

Thanks again,

Justin

Re: Wheel alignment X-Air LS XA85 (H)

Correct.? 4.5 wraps per front and rear is 9 per side (Left and Right)

Just to reiterate, the way I understand the bungee cord installation according to the manual is about 4 wraps around each fastening bolt, not 9 - is this correct?

Yes and replaced with new X-Air bungees.

I have to change my bungees in a few days myself - when you say 9 times, you mean roughly 4 wraps per fastening bolt?

Do you use zip ties or heat shrink or some other way to connect the ends together?

Any pictures?

Just make a slight bend in a component, while taking in account the additional change once the suspension is ore loaded come time to land

I'm probably foing to have to.? There is no adjustment and I cannot find anything that appears to be bent.

The caution is to make sure any planned structural changes are reviewed with the manufacturer - just because one can doesn’t necessarily mean one should …..

I am having an issue with a toe out situation on the left wheel.? I have replaced bungees with factory originals and axle assemblies on both sides but the problem still exists.? Any ideas?

Can't you simply Bend something like the left axle forward towards the propeller to compensate for the towel? Or bend the axle towards the front propeller? Something is obviously not at zero degrees

Bubble doors on x Air Hawk Hanuman

Good day everyone,

Has anyone installed bubble doors on their X Air??

If so, what was the increase in cabin width from the original 43 inches??

Did any parts from the original OEM door? that was able to be reused - or all parts needed to be completely changed?

For your experience, is the x air cabin width generous in space, compared to other light sport aircraft or does this measurement fall within the average amount of room these days?

Some other aircraft like the aeroprakt A22 has just over 50 inches of cabin width, which is astounding!

Thanks for your time,

Justin

My Sensenich ground adjustable prop on my X Air Hanuman jabiru 2200 works beautifully.

Easy to adjust and accurate in RPM change.

As a Hawk owner of over 10 years the only power plant / prob that in my opinion after hours of research is the Rotax 912 driving a 3 blade Kiev prop.

Hi there

In terms of other propeller supplier’s a lot of folk here in SA have opted for the wooden with leading edge protection for their Jabiru aircraft. I personally support the Ukranian company called http://www.nrprop.com who make superb composite propellers with stainless steel leading edge protection at a very competitive price.

So far, I have found only a few options for the Jabiru 2200 powered x-air for a propeller. Prices are USD and as of Feb 2022.

Sensenich makes a ground adjustable model and a wooden prop. Adjustable is about $2000, wooden about $1200 with a 6 week wait.

Ivoprop says their 2 blade medium option will work, $1000, and is available now. I think a 62" might be best in this option since as I understand it, the blades have less resistance than wood so you can swing a slightly larger prop.

Culver props will make one for me with a 4 month waitlist for $650

Performance Propellers USA will make a wooden one with an 8-month wait, $850

Bolly does not make a prop for the 2200, but hoverhawk will make a wooden one in 3 weeks for $1200.

Aero performance in NZ will make a wooden one for about $1600. Not sure about the lead time. (super nice fellow)

DUC prop makes an adjustable model available for around $2200.

Jabiru makes a wood prop and composite options, however, those are actually made of unobtainium as far as I can tell.

Warp drive refuses to make a propeller for Jab 2200s after some rather nasty failures.

Whirlwind also no longer makes jabiru props.

I'm leaning towards the IvoProp or Sensenich wood in 60x38 at the moment. I like the idea of the ivo being adjustable, (and how easy it is to adjust) but I'm not sure about it given the issues Warp had. I haven't seen anyone else running that combination but I'm guessing it's out there.

Does anyone know of any other options I missed, or have any suggestions?

Thanks,

Tom
