Where to repair an X5105

My radio's microphone (both the one on the radio and the hand mic) is not?working. I bought the radio from MFJ and they don't support it anymore. I spoke to Radioodity and they say it needs to be sent back to China.

Does anyone know of a US-based service center?

Michael,

I am not aware of a US-Based Service Center. However, I do wonder if you have the radio set for line input instead of for microphone input?

Just a thought that came to me while I was reading your post.

Thanks,

This is completely a shot in the dark but what if you reflashed the firmware? ?

Radioddity was the dealer when I bought my X5105, and they have someone who has helped other users with service and technical information.? There is also another, newer dealer who has also proved good service, but I forget the name.? It has been mentioned in other threads, so a search should find it.

First off - check the ENTIRE set of menus.? Make sure you haven't somehow turned off the microphones, or set the radio to a mode that doesn't use the microphone & turned them off.? Consider not using voice modes, such as CW & the various digital modes.? Save your the money that you'd otherwise spend on shipping to & from where ever, and the cost of the repair & put that money to the 'new & improved' 6100 radio.? Good luck resolving your problem.? 73

Did that. Didn't fix it.

From the users manual:
page 31? ?
¡ïImportant? notes:
When LINE IN is enabled, both built-in MIC and external MIC are not available.

You probably checked this menu (page 32):
#6-1? (MIC gain adjustment)
?
to be sure that the gain didn't get reduced.
