Does anyone have a problem with the sound of their speaker? I have issues hearing most stuff from it, it sounds cheap. Does anyone use an external speaker? Or has anyone done anything to improve the sound?

Indoors, in the shack, I use one of an old pair of computer speakers.? It came with the right cable and connector, so it just plugs right in and works.? Sounds better than the tiny one in the radio, too.? (Check thrift stores in your area!)
You can also plug headphones into the speaker jack, even earbuds.? If they have a mic, though, that will NOT work.

If you have an earbuds-with-mic set, and the mic is in the cord down below the buds, you might be able to us that if you tape the mic onto the radio right next to the speaker.?
Dollar Tree stores often have (or at least did have) earbuds like that.? I have one here.
